Department: Faculty of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship
Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri
Reporting To: Executive Dean
Campus Location: Whitby
Vacancy Status: new vacancy

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Community Outreach and Partnership Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and promoting community engagement initiatives, outreach activities, industry partnerships, and experiential learning opportunities on behalf of the Faculty of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship, the Faculty of Hospitality and Horticultural Sciences, and the Faculty of Science and Engineering Technology.

The incumbent also administers faculty scholarship programs by coordinating scholarship opportunities, managing application and selection processes, maintaining relationships with scholarship providers, and supporting scholarship recipients throughout the academic year.

The incumbent coordinates the Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) initiative, providing coordination and oversight for activities that support recruitment, retention, networking, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities for women pursuing careers in the skilled trades.

Community Outreach, Partnership Development and Engagement:

Serve as the primary contact for community outreach, partnership, and engagement initiatives. Develop and maintain relationships with school boards, secondary schools, industry partners, employers, community organizations, government agencies, and sector associations.
Identify, establish, and coordinate partnership opportunities that support student recruitment, experiential learning, community engagement, and Faculty of STA/HHS/SET strategic priorities.
Represent the Faculties at community events, conferences, career fairs, trade shows, industry events, and other outreach activities to promote educational pathways and careers in STEM, skilled trades, hospitality, horticulture, and engineering. Plan and deliver presentations, workshops, information sessions, campus visits, and tours for prospective students, parents, educators, community groups, and external partners.

Event Planning and Coordination:

Coordinate faculty outreach events both on and off campus.
Lead planning and logistics for initiatives such as Women on Site, Level Up, Skills Ontario Camps, Science Rendezvous, STEM workshops, High school engagement activities. Work closely with Associate Deans, Program Coordinators, faculty and staff to identify presenters, facilitators and volunteers.
Coordinate facility bookings, catering, registrations, risk management requirements, marketing materials, supplies, transportation, and event evaluations.
Plan and host WIST meetings, workshops, networking events, guest speaker sessions, mentorship activities, and recruitment initiatives.

Marketing, Communications and Social Media:

Develop and maintain the social media presence for the Faculty of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship, Faculty of Hospitality and Horticultural Sciences, and Faculty of Science and Engineering Technology.
Create and publish content for social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, and other approved channels.
Promote Faculty events, student success stories, industry partnerships, scholarship opportunities, community engagement activities, and program initiatives.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners to gather content and develop promotional materials.
Coordinate photography, videography, and social media coverage at events and outreach activities.

Scholarship Program Administration:

Coordinate Faculty scholarship opportunities in collaboration with Advancement and Financial Aid.
Liaise with scholarship sponsors and donors.
Promote scholarship opportunities to students. Schedule interviews and coordinate candidate communications.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a three-year diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Community Development, Education, or a related field.
A minimum of three-years of work experience in community engagement, outreach, partnership development, event planning, recruitment, stakeholder relations, education, or a related field.
Experience working within a post-secondary, education, non-profit, government, or industry environment would be considered an asset.
Experience in stakeholder engagement, event planning, presentations, and digital communications is required. Experience supporting student engagement, leadership development, community outreach, or equity-focused initiatives, as well as creating multimedia content and working with underrepresented groups, is considered an asset.
