Full job description

Drywall Supervisor

Position Summary

Responsible for supervising and coordinating drywall installation crews on residential, commercial, and/or industrial construction projects. Ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to company and project quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate drywall installers, tapers, and labourers on job sites.
Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members.
Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and schedules.
Coordinate drywall installation, framing, boarding, taping, finishing, and repairs.
Monitor job-site progress and ensure projects remain on schedule.
Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with general contractors, site supervisors, project managers, and other trades.
Order and track drywall, framing materials, fasteners, tools, and other required supplies.
Maintain productivity and minimize material waste and rework.
Enforce company safety policies and applicable workplace safety regulations.
Train, mentor, and provide direction to crew members.
Identify and resolve job-site issues, deficiencies, and scheduling conflicts.
Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, production, and daily site activities.
Ensure work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
Communicate project updates, delays, material requirements, and other concerns to management.

Qualifications

Several years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
Previous supervisory or lead-hand experience in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of drywall systems, materials, tools, and finishing techniques.
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Valid driver's licence is an asset.
WHMIS and applicable construction safety training is an asset.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry construction materials.
Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and elevated work areas.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
Ability to work in varying construction-site conditions.
