Section: Compliance and Operational Support
Division: Water and Wastewater Services
Department: Community Infrastructure
Initial Reporting Location: Frobisher Depot

Job Status: Permanent Position

Union Affiliation: CUPE 4705 Outside Unit
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: No
Rate of Pay: $32.64 per hour

The start date will follow the selection process.

A criminal record check is required for this position and will be requested by the Hiring Manager should you be the candidate of choice. Please do not submit your criminal record check with your application.

Main Function: Perform the duties of a Meterperson.

Characteristic: Under the supervision of the Water Meter Compliance Officer.

Duties:
1. Install, repair, test, calibrate and maintain all types of water meters.
2. Required to read and record consumption flows on certain meters.
3. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
4. Perform other related duties as required.

Note: The above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all inclusive.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the maintenance and installation of meters and/or be licensed as a water meter installer.

Other Requirements:

Ability to calibrate measuring chambers and gear trains, on all meters and test within specified regulations.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
Must be able to effectively complete M.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
Provide, at own cost, a Criminal Reference Check.
May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.
