Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO, www.youthhubs.ca) is a network of 32, Integrated Youth Services (IYS) hub networks that currently operate in 40 communities, where young people ages 12 to 25 years have walk-in access to youth-centered, community-based mental health and wellness services. YWHO engages youth, family members, service providers, and other partners through a co-creation process, enhancing the relevance, acceptability, and youth friendliness of services. The hubs are provincially consistent in core features and locally led and adapted to offer and connect to a range of evidence- based services—mental health care, substance use health services, primary care, education, employment, housing, peer support, family support and care navigation—in youth-friendly spaces. Outcomes are rigorously evaluated within and across hubs, focusing on positive outcomes in areas of wellness important to youth and their families.

Position Description:

YWHO is seeking a full-time, permanent, Manager of Knowledge Mobilization & Workforce Development to manage the YWHO’s training and education activities and initiatives, providing strategic and operational oversight in support of the overall strategic directions and system change goals. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Practice and Implementation, the Manager of Knowledge Mobilization & Workforce Development will manage staff within this portfolio; and liaise with YWHO and CAMH colleagues, and community leadership, service providers and youth and family advisors in order to represent the program’s training and education activities. This position will provide leadership and support to YWHO to ensure that the goals, objectives, and deliverables of training, education and community support initiatives are met.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Knowledge Mobilization & Workforce Development will develop and implement the overall engagement, training and evaluation plans for YWHO Knowledge Mobilization and Workforce Development initiatives. The incumbent will liaise with YWHO Network Leads and additional partner organizations representing services across the mental health and substance use, health and community and social support services sectors regarding training, capacity building and workforce development opportunities. The incumbent will support the internal team in developing courses, in-person and online events as well as resources to respond to emerging needs as well as skill, knowledge and information gaps identified by direct service providers across the provincial YWHO Network. The Manager, Knowledge Mobilization & Workforce Development will provide management, coordination and support to internal and external trainers, support staff, vendors, subject matter experts, youth and family advisors and other project partners. The incumbent will oversee YWHO’s Learning Management System. The incumbent will also lead the ongoing development of additional knowledge mobilization resources, including evidence-briefs, practice guidelines, plain language summaries and live clinical consultation sessions for YWHO service providers. The Manager will also lead work with communications teams to develop and implement strategies for dissemination of knowledge products

In addition, the Manager will lead the development of an Integrated Youth Services (IYS) workforce strengthening initiative focused on post-secondary placements for students in IYS in Ontario. This new initiative will pilot a program to support YWHO networks to implement effective post-secondary trainee placements, strengthening services in YWHO and bolstering health human resources by expanding the number of clinicians graduating with IYS competencies.

The successful candidate will develop project workplans and other project materials related to proposals, submissions and/or reporting and will address challenges/delays/risks to the portfolio, elevating to the Director as necessary. Working in conjunction with supervisors, the incumbent will provide direct supervision and day-to-day oversight of direct reports – conducting hiring processes specific to projects, assessing staff performance, establishing personal development plans & addressing performance concerns. Working with the Director of Clinical Practice and Implementation and the Director of Operations, the Manager of Knowledge Mobilization & Workforce Development will manage the portfolio’s budgets, addressing any budgetary issues on an on-going basis. The incumbent will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position is located at 80 Workman Way in Toronto.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in education , social work, psychology, health promotion, or a related field from a recognized institution combined with 5+ years relevant experience working in education and/or mental health and addictions services. At least two years of experience with large scale implementation efforts at agency and/or system levels, as well as management experience providing direct supervisory support to staff and overseeing budgetary requirements is required.

Demonstrated understanding of knowledge translation and exchange strategies and frameworks is required, including experience leading the identification and development of knowledge exchange products to support development and implementation of new practices/services. Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, experience in curriculum development and previous experience creating e-learning content and familiarity with Learning Management Systems is required. Previous experience with YWHO or other integrated models of service delivery for youth with addictions and/or mental health concerns is preferred.

This position requires a demonstrated ability to collaborate on initiatives with community service providers, organizations, First Nations communities and youth and family partners. The incumbent must have demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships and advancing initiatives with government, community and system partners. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential to the success of this role. Strong problem-solving skills coupled with sound judgement and decision-making skills are also essential.

Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (English/French) and/or the ability to speak an additional language is also considered an asset.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $102,735.96 – $128,419.95 per year.
Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $102,735.96 – $154,103.94 per year
