Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Walker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a commitment to providing excellent care for our furry clients. As a Dog Walker, you will be responsible for ensuring that dogs receive the exercise, attention, and companionship they need while their owners are away. This role requires strong customer service skills, as you will be interacting with pet owners and providing updates on their pets' activities. You must be comfortable walking in various types of weather, and comfortable working with a wide variety of dog breeds.
Duties / Job Requirements
- Valid G license and reliable vehicle (you must be able to travel to client's houses)
- Must have working smartphone with data and working camera
- This is an independent contracting job (you get paid per job you complete- there is NO hourly wage)
- Work hours are typically between 9am-1pm. Hours change depending on when clients book. There is a possibility for more hours or weekend work if desired.
- Walk dogs in various weather conditions, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times (you will be walking in snow & rain + hot & cold weather)
- Monitor dogs for any signs of distress or health issues during walks (notify business owner of any health concerns immediately)
- Maintain clear communication with pet owners, providing updates on their dog's behaviour and activities (we use a phone app to communicate with clients)
- Follow specific instructions from pet owners regarding walking routes, feeding schedules, and any special needs or behaviour requirements
- Ensure that all dogs are leashed appropriately and follow local leash laws
- Clean up after dogs during walks to maintain a clean environment
- Build rapport with both pets and their owners to foster trust and repeat business
Experience
- Previous experience in dog walking or pet care is preferred but not required
- Pet first aid is an asset, but not required
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners
- A genuine love for animals and an understanding of dog/cat behaviour is essential
- Ability to handle multiple dogs at once (max. 3) or strong dogs while maintaining control and safety
- Must be physically fit to walk dogs for extended periods
- Must be comfortable talking to people and interacting with animals
- Have a good understanding of technology (enough to navigate a phone app and take pictures of dogs)
