About the Opportunity:
Pursuit Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer that would be responsible for ensuring assigned products meet customer purchase orders, drawings, and specifications related to the manufacturing of assigned hardware. This role includes performing quality audits, monitoring processes, and ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented. The position collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to maintain high-quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Orillia, Ontario
This is an Onsite position.
Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision:

Review purchase orders, customer specifications, and drawings
-
Develop quality plans within manufacturing work instructions and approve First Article Inspection plans
-
Collaborate with engineering and the shop regarding non-conforming material, source inspections, and SPC analysis
-
Provide flow requirements to suppliers and technical support to the shop
-
Develop, define, and initiate standards and methods of inspection
-
Support inspection, operators, and engineering staff to ensure compliance with specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards

Ensure flow down of key characteristics and develop effective quality control plans in partnership with engineering
-
Review travelers for material, special processing requirements, and manufacturability
-
Drive assigned improvement projects and perform internal audits, root cause analysis, and corrective action system training

Design and develop inspection fixtures, tools, and gages
-
Serve as a liaison between customers and suppliers on quality issues
-
Assist in review and approval of work instructions

Support Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) initiatives and approve Quality Plans

Train and implement supplier nonconformance investigations

Recommend process and quality improvements
-
Flows-down customer requirements to Purchasing

Provide Quality Clinic support and establish sampling plans to meet QMS requirements

Develop quality plans for part acceptance and support Value Stream Mapping processes

Mentor lower-level employees and foster a team environment
-
Perform other duties as assigned by regulatory standards or management
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-
Proficient in interpreting drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Knowledge of machining operations, quality assurance systems, calibration, and gauging
-
Solid understanding of AS9102/eCAV, CID, SPS & Fix Process
-
Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Systems requirements

Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and manufacturing techniques

Strong skills in root cause analysis and corrective action

Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Problem-solving abilities to support continuous process improvement
-
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with engineering and technical staff

Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw conclusions
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or related industry in a quality engineering role
-
Prior experience as a Quality Engineering Technician is a plus
-
AS13001 certification is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Prior experience with Quality Engineering in a highly regulated manufacturing environment
-
Familiarity with supplier quality systems and supplier development
-
Advanced knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and Lean initiatives
Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit and use hands for typing or handling items.

Frequently required to talk or hear.

Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Occasionally required to lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Specific vision requirements include close vision and color recognition.
Work Environment:

Office-based position with a generally quiet work environment.

Occasional work may occur in manufacturing areas or customer plant environments.

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and cleaning solutions such as acetone and alcohol.

Primarily based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to shop floor operations
-
Occasional visits to supplier facilities or customer sites may be required
-
Standard office environment for documentation, planning, and reporting activities

Collaborative environment requiring interaction with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality
