We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mobile Crane Operator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience operating mobile cranes on residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects. Applicants must hold a valid DZ driver's licence; an AZ licence is considered an asset. Position Summary
Reporting to the Owner/Operator, the Mobile Crane Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of mobile cranes on a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Working in accordance with all applicable legislation, company policies, and industry safety standards, the successful candidate will conduct pre-operational inspections, assess job site conditions, and execute lifts safely and efficiently.
The Mobile Crane Operator will work closely with dispatch, riggers, signal persons, customers, and property owners to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standard of customer service. This position requires a thorough understanding of crane operations, load charts, rigging practices, and the knowledge and competencies acquired through the 339A Mobile Crane Operator skilled trade, along with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate mobile cranes in accordance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and company safety policies.
- Perform pre-operational inspections and complete daily equipment inspections and documentation.
- Read and interpret lift plans, load charts, and project drawings.
- Set up cranes, including proper outrigger placement and site preparation.
- Work closely with riggers, signal persons, site supervisors, and project managers to execute lifts safely and efficiently.
- Monitor weather, ground, and site conditions to ensure safe lifting operations.
- Maintain accurate equipment inspection and maintenance records.
- Report equipment defects or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatch, customers, and fellow team members.
- Promote a strong safety culture on every job site and comply with all company and regulatory safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience operating mobile cranes; third-year apprentices will also be considered.
- Valid Ontario 339A Mobile Crane Operator Certificate of Qualification.
- DZ license required- AZ license preferred
- Experience operating 28-ton, 40-ton, 50-ton boom trucks and/or 90-ton and 110 -ton cranes
- Experience with tree removal, modular homes considered an asset
- Strong understanding of crane load charts, rigging practices, and safe lifting procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clean driving record and valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to work overtime as required to meet customer and project schedules
