Full job description

Overview

Unscrewed Inc. is a residential framing contractor based in Ajax, working throughout Durham Region. We are hiring a part-time bookkeeper / office administrator to take ownership of our invoicing and day-to-day accounting.

This is a new position, created because the administrative side of the business has grown beyond what the owner can keep current. The work is remote, approximately 15–20 hours per week, with flexible daytime hours.

Responsibilities

Prepare and issue customer invoices in QuickBooks Online as jobs reach their billing stages
Manage accounts receivable: track outstanding balances, issue reminders, and follow up directly with customers on overdue invoices
Manage accounts payable: enter supplier bills and reconcile building supply and lumber yard statements against purchase records
Monitor the accounting inbox, process incoming bills and remittances, and respond to routine supplier inquiries
Maintain the books to month-end standard and prepare materials for our external accountant
Keep job files, subcontractor documentation and receipts organized and accessible

Requirements

Two or more years of bookkeeping or accounts payable/receivable experience
Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
Willingness to contact customers directly regarding overdue accounts — this is a regular part of the role
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently without daily direction
Reliable computer and internet connection

Preferred

Experience with a construction, trades or contracting business
Familiarity with construction holdbacks, WSIB clearance certificates, T5018 filings or job costing
Resident of Durham Region, and available to attend our Ajax office occasionally

What to expect

This is a standalone role. You would be the only person handling the books, reporting directly to the owner, with no accounting department to escalate to.

In return, the position offers flexible scheduling, remote work, and direct decision-making access to the owner. It suits someone who prefers to own a function end to end rather than work from an assigned queue.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
