Boom Truck Operator

D.L. Building Materials Inc., Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec’s largest specialized building materials supplier, is looking for a dynamic Boom Truck Operator to join our team in Ottawa and Gatineau!

What are we looking for? A candidate who can…

- Operate articulated crane trucks to transport materials

- Inspect loaded truck for accuracy, compliance with weight restrictions

- Maintain accurate records for submission to Fleet Office

- Loading and unloading of materials on residential & commercial jobsites

- Follow safety policies and procedures while loading, traveling and on jobsites are essential in this role.

- Ensuring safety and security

- Use GPS, atlases, and other trip planning

- Daily inspections and overseeing the condition of the truck daily (Follow a daily pre-trip inspection list)

- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment

Who are we looking for? A candidate who…

- Hold a valid Crane & Hoisting Certificate, Class 1, driver’s license with air brake

(Q endorsement)

- Driver’s licence (Class A Z) endorsement and valid crane operator

Certificate

- Valid crane certificate to operate cranes up to 20 tons.

- Forklift Operator and/or Fall Arrest certification will be an asset

- The candidate must be able to drive both manual & automatic trucks.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence between truck and branch throughout the day.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

-The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

- Has experience in customer service

- Experience in construction an asset

Que recherchons-nous ? Un candidat qui peut...

- Opérer des camions-grues articulés pour transporter des matériaux

- Inspecter le camion chargé pour s'assurer qu'il est précis et qu'il respecte les restrictions de poids.

- Tenir des registres exacts pour les soumettre au bureau de la flotte.

- Charger et décharger des matériaux sur des chantiers résidentiels et commerciaux.

- Respecter les politiques et les procédures de sécurité lors du chargement, des déplacements et sur les chantiers est essentiel dans ce rôle.

- Assurer la sécurité et la sûreté

- Utiliser le GPS, les atlas et d'autres outils de planification des déplacements.

- Inspections quotidiennes et supervision de l'état du camion tous les jours (suivre une liste d'inspection quotidienne avant le départ).

- Superviser l'état du véhicule et inspecter les pneus, les feux, les freins et d'autres équipements.

Qui recherchons-nous ? Un candidat qui...

- est titulaire d'un certificat de grue et de levage valide, classe 1, d'un permis de conduire avec frein à air (endossement Q)

- Diplôme de fin d'études secondaires ou diplôme d'enseignement général (GED).

- Capacité à lire et à comprendre les instructions, la correspondance courte entre le camion et l'agence tout au long de la journée.

- Capacité à additionner, soustraire, multiplier et diviser dans toutes les unités de mesure, en utilisant des nombres entiers, des fractions courantes et des décimales.

- Capacité à faire preuve de bon sens pour exécuter des instructions écrites, orales ou sous forme de diagramme. Capacité à traiter des problèmes impliquant plusieurs variables concrètes dans des situations standardisées.

-L'employé doit régulièrement soulever et/ou déplacer jusqu'à 75 livres.

- Avoir de l'expérience dans le service à la clientèle

- Une expérience dans le domaine de la construction est un atout.
