Ridge Rock Group is a commercial landscaping contractor servicing properties all across Ottawa. Our team seeks to become one of the largest property maintenance companies in Ottawa and are very intentional about the company culture that we have.
We are hiring a Landscape Labourer for year-round, hands-on outdoor work. In the summer season, you will cut and trim grass and perform general landscaping work across our client sites. In the winter season, you will shovel walkways and steps and operate snow removal equipment. This is a physical, weather-dependent role suited to someone reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.

Key Responsibilities
Summer season (approx. April–November)
- Operate commercial mowers (zero-turn and walk-behind), string trimmers, and blowers to cut and maintain grass at commercial and condominium properties
- Perform landscaping tasks including planting, mulching, garden bed maintenance, pruning, edging, and spring/fall cleanups
- Assist with interlock and hardscape projects as required
- Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials on trailers
- Keep work sites clean, safe, and presentable before leaving
Winter season (approx. November–April)
- Shovel and clear snow from walkways, steps, and entrances
- Apply ice melt and salt to maintain safe pedestrian surfaces
- Operate snow removal equipment (snow blowers and, where qualified, plow trucks or skid steers)
- Respond to storm events, which may include early morning, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Complete work logs and service records accurately for each site visited
Year-round
- Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance; report defects promptly
- Follow all company health and safety policies and Ontario OHSA requirements
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about site conditions and issues
- Represent Ridge Rock professionally when interacting with clients and the public
Qualifications
- Previous landscaping, grounds maintenance, or snow removal experience is an asset but not required as we will train the right candidate
- Valid Ontario G licence (or G2) with a clean driver's abstract is a strong asset
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate commercial mowers, trimmers, and snow equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and remain on your feet for full shifts
- Reliable, punctual, and available for variable hours during winter storm events
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding outdoor work in all weather
- Summer schedule is generally daytime, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend work
- Winter schedule is dictated by weather; on-call availability during snow events is required
- Personal protective equipment provided; safety training provided on hire
Compensation
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience with guranteed hours in the winter
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work in cold, snowy, and icy conditions for extended periods.
- Physically able to lift and move heavy objects (50 lbs+), bend, shovel, and operate equipment.
- Previous snow removal experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work flexible, on-call hours, often with little notice.
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
