Machinist (Manual + CNC)

Schedule: 7:00am - 5:00pm

Location: Ottawa

Description:

Build precision parts. Take ownership of your work. Solve real machining challenges.

We’re hiring an experienced Machinist who thrives in a job shop environment—not repetitive production. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys full ownership of setups, working with tight tolerances, and producing high-precision components, including military-grade work.

What You’ll Do

Set up and run jobs independently using blueprints, drawings, and sketches
Determine materials, tooling, speeds & feeds, and overall machining approach
Operate a mix of manual and CNC equipment (mills, lathes, saws, grinders)
Perform test runs and in-process inspections to ensure precision and quality
Manage a variety of parts (20+ in rotation) — no repetitive production runs
Maintain accurate documentation for quality and compliance standards
Troubleshoot machining or process issues to keep production on track
Perform basic machine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, adjustments)
Collaborate with team members while following strong safety practices

Core Requirements

3+ years of machining experience (manual + CNC)
Strong ability to work with tight tolerances and precision measurements
Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings
Solid math and problem-solving skills
Experience with job setups, adjustments, and troubleshooting
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment

Nice-to-Have

Experience with Acu-Rite MillPWR or similar controls
2-axis / 3-axis machining experience
Background in precision or military-grade manufacturing
