The Aircraft Fueler will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient fueling/defueling of aircraft while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.
Proactively foster a learning safety culture by modeling a safe work ethic and promoting the value of open reporting and shared safety responsibility. Follow all safety policies, standards, and procedures in order to achieve a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, customers, and visitors. Similarly support Inland’s environmental commitments by helping to limit our organization’s impact on the ecosystem;
Ensure that Inland is compliant with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;
Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
Uphold and follow the duties related to operating and maintaining fueling vehicles, tank farm and other associated equipment according to procedures for both airlines and Inland;
Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections, fuel testing inspections on vehicles and tank farm equipment utilizing appropriate checklists;
Follow Equipment Fueling SOP’s to ensure optimal readiness during your shift;
Follow Aircraft Re-fueling SOP and perform re-fueling in a safe and efficient manner;
Follow Tank Farm SOP’s when performing tests, recording data, accepting fuel deliveries and quality control;
Ensure accurate accounting of ALL fuel transactions;
Calculate fuel distribution for a variety of aircraft;
Ensure the correct loading and balancing of fuel;
Professionally communicate with airport authority, outside contractor(s) and other stakeholders professionally while representing yourself in the best image for the company;
Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;
Be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin refueling when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement
Promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;
Perform and record light maintenance tasks on Vehicles and Equipment and immediately report any repair requirements;
Escort non-security badge holding personnel in accordance with airport escorting procedures;
Abide by Health and Safety principles by using issued and available safety equipment as required by SOP’s in the day-by-day operations of the facility;
Document and notify management of any irregular operations issues you observe while on shift;
Assist in fuel farm and dispatching operations when required;
Work cooperatively with all other staff involved in the completion of assigned duties and to maintain communications between other employees and shifts about current conditions of machines;
Promote the best interest of the company by fostering goodwill and support between Inland/IDS and its customers ensuring that Inland’s policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;
Understand and promote the Company’s mission statement, values and strategic goals;
Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;
Drive and maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity;
To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.
High school diploma or equivalent;
Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;
Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Outlook);
Read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
Interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals;
Mathematical competence
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;
General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools;
Work as part of a team and maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;
Comfortable operating large vehicles during inclement weather in constricted areas;
Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds regularly;
Must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
Work in a confined space for extended periods of time;
Work outdoors for long periods when necessary;
Wear personal protective equipment when required and ensure full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;
Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.
