Your Impact at LAURIN
As an Accounting Co-op Student, you will work alongside our accounting team to support day-to-day financial activities and gain hands-on experience in a construction environment. You’ll gain practical experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end processes, financial reporting, and other areas of accounting while contributing to the day-to-day operations of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with processing invoices, payments, and accounts payable activities.
- Support account reconciliations and help identify and follow up on discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities and related documentation.
- Support the preparation of journal entries, sales tax filings, and financial reports.
- Assist with reviewing credit card statements and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Help organize and maintain accounting documentation and files.
- Support the accounting team with data entry, reporting, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Assist with special projects and process improvements led by the Controller and accounting team.
- Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders across the organization.
- Take initiative in learning LAURIN’s accounting systems, processes, and construction-related financial practices throughout the work term.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Eligible to complete a formal co-op or internship work term through a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Curious, dependable, and willing to learn, ask questions, and take on new responsibilities.
Education & Professional Credentials
- Active enrolment in an Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or comparable post-secondary program is required.
- Relevant coursework, academic projects, prior co-op experience, or related work experience will be considered assets.
Eligibility & Security Requirements
At LAURIN, many of our projects require specific employment and security conditions. To be considered, candidates must:
- Be legally authorized to work in Canada. Please note that LAURIN does not provide or assume sponsorship for work permits or visas.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance (Secret clearance is considered an asset).
- Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in Canada (e.g., valid work permit or Social Insurance Number). All offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance.
Estimated Compensation
The hourly wage for this co-op opportunity is $23.00.
