Underwriter 16-S: Salaries typically range from 74,205 SGD to 98,940 SGD annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Underwriter 17-S: Salaries typically range from 91,800 SGD to 122,400 SGD annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).

The EDC branch office in Singapore serves as a hub for the Asia Pacific region. The branch allows us to support our Asia Pacific and Canadian customers more effectively as they go, grow and succeed internationally.
Team Overview:
EDC’s Corporate Lending International (“CLI”) team manages a portfolio of corporate loan assets for international borrowers. Our loan portfolio covers corporate borrowers in various markets across Asia Pacific and in various sectors. The CLI team is seeking a financing professional with corporate banking experience credit analysis, structuring, documentation and portfolio monitoring and management.
In close collaboration with EDC’s Business Development, Legal Services, Environmental and Social Governance (ESG), Financial Crime teams, as well as Canadian and international banking partners, the successful candidate will be relied upon to understand the customer’s needs, structure a solution which addresses those needs, assess the credit risk and recommend risk mitigation strategies to achieve the optimal balance between customer-centricity and EDC’s business requirements. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other team members in managing the risks of EDC’s APAC Pacific corporate loan portfolio across a variety of sectors (telecommunications, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, retail etc.)
What you will be doing:
- Conducts regular risk analysis and credit reviews of a portfolio of corporate loans.
- Conducts due diligence and assesses company credit, industry, country, ESG, and other applicable risks.
- Supports or leads the negotiation of risk mitigants, financial terms and conditions and establishes or validates appropriate transaction pricing compliant with market window or consensus pricing guidelines.
- Uses financial models, including appropriate assumptions, drivers and methodology.
- Leads and/or supports the credit recommendation process for new loans and credit reviews and obtains all required approvals.
- Reviews credit documentation in collaboration with legal counsel.
- Works in collaboration with business customers, foreign buyers, financial institutions and other organizations to deliver financial solutions.
- Provides support in structuring and delivering financing solutions which may include direct loans, syndicated loan participation, guarantee structures, leasing, etc.) that support the needs of customers across all industry sectors.
- Assists the business development teams with on-going customer service throughout the transaction process.
What we are looking for:
- Applies knowledge of financing and general lending/loan practices to deliver new loans and manage the existing portfolio.
- Assesses and mitigates transaction risks on standard transactions and portfolios
- Leads the projection analysis and modelling for transactions.
- With oversight, prepare credit submissions and formulate pricing analysis reflective of risk and market conditions.
- Supports the account management function in managing customer expectations at various stages of the process.
- Determines financial eligibility of customers, borrowers and other counterparties and along with counsel, supports the review of loan documentation.
- Support the asset owner for effective execution of portfolio and transaction management activities across all stakeholders.
- Completed an Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or in a related field.
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience in financial services, preferably in a corporate lending environment or closely similar.
- Knowledge and experience in corporate lending and/or loan portfolio management.
- Credit analysis, risk assessment and negotiation skills.
- Effective communication, influencing and negotiation skills (written, verbal, presentation).
- Comfortable working in or developing Excel-based financial models.
What will make you stand out:
- Bilingual in both official languages (English & French) and other local languages in APAC (Bahasa, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Korean).
- Enrollment in or completion of a professional designation (CFA, CPA).
- MBA.
- Knowledge of general business practices and international business issues.
