Job Overview
Based in Perth Ontario, Full Speed Builders is a premier, fully integrated design-build contractor specializing in major commercial and industrial buildings. Unlike traditional contractors, we control the entire lifecycle of our projects, from architectural concept to final structural delivery, and we self-perform all of our own civil and sitework. Because we control both the design and the dirt, our projects run smoother, faster, and more efficiently. Backed by a robust pipeline of large-scale projects, we provide year-round work and a highly organized, stable work environment.
The Commercial/Industrial Sitework Superintendent provides total on-site leadership for our self-performed civil operations. Operating across the Eastern Ontario and Ottawa Area, you will work hand-in-hand with our in-house design and project management teams to oversee mass grading, deep structural excavations, commercial wet utilities, and subgrade preparation for massive building pads. This is a year-round position for a dedicated field leader who wants to eliminate the friction of third-party engineers and drive high-production civil projects across all four seasons.
Core Responsibilities
- Building Pad Execution: Lead our self-performed crews in mass earthmoving, structural fill, subgrade stabilization, and precision final grading for large-footprint commercial and industrial building pads.
- Commercial Utility Packages: Direct the installation of high-capacity underground utilities, including deep storm management networks, oil/grit separators, sanitary mains, and fire lines.
- Design-Build Collaboration: Work directly with our in-house design and engineering teams to identify site layout conflicts early, streamline field changes, and accelerate project timelines.
- Four-Season Site Management: Manage site operations through shifting weather conditions, ensuring continuous year-round progress on excavations, earthworks sequencing, and site water control.
- Precision Grade Control: Utilize 3D GPS modeling software (Trimble/Topcon) to verify strict subgrade tolerances required before our vertical construction teams take over.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce a zero-incident safety culture, ensuring strict compliance with commercial site safety plans, trenching/shoring regulations, and Ontario Ministry of Labour standards
What You Bring to the Team
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of field supervision experience specifically leading civil sitework for commercial developments, industrial parks, warehouses, or institutional project
- The Self-Perform Edge: Proven success directly managing internal trade crews, heavy equipment operators, and pipelayers (not just managing subcontractors).
- Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of soil compaction, structural backfill specifications, dewatering systems, deep utility trenching safety, and cold-weather construction techniques.
- GPS & Software Literacy: Proficient with GPS machine control systems and field management software for tracking quantities and daily reports.
- Blueprint Command: Expert-level ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and utility drawings.
- Regional Mobility: Willingness to manage jobsites within our Eastern Ontario and Ottawa Area operational footprint.
What We Offer
- Year-Round Stability: Continuous, steady project workflow throughout the entire year.
- Compensation: Base salary of $120,000 - $140,000 paired with an annual performance bonus.
- Field Assets: Company-issued late-model truck, corporate cell phone, and tablet/iPad
- Health & Wellness Benefits: Fully funded, comprehensive health, dental, and vision care packages including prescription coverage and extended paramedical services (massage, physiotherapy, chiropractic).
- Paid Time Off: Competitive annual paid vacation allotment and statutory holidays
- Efficiency: A streamlined, internal design-build workflow that eliminates standard third-party delays and paperwork headaches.
