Role Description
We are seeking a strategic and highly organized events and sponsorship professional to join our Ottawa-based team as Senior Director, Events and Sponsorships. This role will lead the planning and execution of WaterPower Canada’s flagship events portfolio, including conferences, webinars, member meetings, and Canada’s national waterpower tradeshow. This position will also lead sponsorship strategy, partnership engagement, and revenue growth initiatives that support member engagement and organizational growth.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, relationship management, and project execution skills, along with experience delivering high-quality in-person and virtual events. Experience in managing budgets, sponsorships, and service contractors in a fast-paced, high-performing, and dynamic work environment is required. Bilingualism in English and French will be considered to be an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of in-person and virtual events
- Development and management of event programming, including designing innovative ideas for programming and liaising with all relevant team members to gather needed input
- Lead the development and execution of sponsorship strategies, including member and partner engagement, and revenue growth initiatives
- Directing and working with event facilities and various event-services contractors
- Budget coordination, tracking, invoicing, and follow-up with members. Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of event planning and project management processes
- Engaging and managing volunteer teams
- Lead speaker outreach, coordination, and engagement for conferences, webinars, and member events
- Development of event-related communications and assets
- Establishing, tracking, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and alignment with organizational goals

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is between $100 – 125K, plus benefits.
