Position Overview:
This role combines equipment operation with hands-on landscaping work. As a Landscape Operator/Technician, you'll assist in both the construction and maintenance of residential and commercial landscapes, with a primary focus on sod-related services. - Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- Location: Must be able to commute to our office/shop near Hawthorne Rd & Leitrim Rd
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate skid steers, mini-excavators, loaders, and other landscape equipment as needed (approx. 20% of the role).Perform a wide range of landscape labour tasks including: Grading, drainage, sod excavation, sod installation Planting trees/shrubs, and installing landscape materials (approx. 80% of the role).
- Operate small landscape tools (trimmers, edgers, cultivators, blowers, power brooms, etc.).
- Safely drive and operate F550 trucks with 20' trailers.
- Carry out general maintenance work including pruning, turf care, and watering, when needed.
- Read and follow landscape project plans to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct on-site quality checks to ensure work meets high standards and project specifications.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and clients.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in landscape construction or maintenance (or equivalent experience in a related industry).
- Skilled in operating heavy landscape machinery (e.g. skid steers, excavators, loaders).
- Proficient with small landscaping equipment and tools.
- Strong knowledge of industry practices: grading, drainage, soil prep, sod installation, planting, etc.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License with a clean abstract; trailer towing experience is required.
- Physically fit and able to lift/move 60+ lbs in varying weather conditions
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
