Facilities Assistant – ( New Classification)

About Keystone:
Keystone Child, Youth & Family Services is a not-for-profit organization and the designated Lead Agency for Children’s Mental Health in Grey and Bruce Counties. Since 1974, we have supported children, youth, and families through compassionate, responsive mental health services. We provide a full range of supports, including counselling, prevention and well-being programs, short-term live-in treatment, crisis stabilization, youth justice services, and special needs programming. Through coordinated access, we ensure children and youth receive individualized, multi-disciplinary care to meet their unique needs!
Position Overview:
The Facilities Assistant supports the day-to-day functioning and upkeep of Keystone Child, Youth & Family Services’ facilities, reporting to the Operations Coordinator to ensure all sites are safe, clean, organized, and operational. This hands-on role contributes to the maintenance and care of buildings, grounds, and shared spaces across multiple locations, assisting with general repairs, cleaning, set-ups and teardowns, seasonal outdoor maintenance, material transport, and ongoing organization of storage and office areas. The position is responsive and varied, helping to address immediate facility needs while also supporting planned upkeep and improvement projects, ensuring Keystone spaces remain functional, welcoming, and well-maintained for staff, clients, and visitors!
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Maintenance & Upkeep:
· Support daily cleanliness, upkeep, and general maintenance of all Keystone sites
· Conduct routine building checks (morning/evening) to ensure sites are secure and identify maintenance needs
· Assist with repairs, painting, and renovations as needed
Cleaning, Supplies & Site Readiness:
· Support cleaning and preparation of offices, program rooms, and shared spaces
· Set up and tear down furniture and equipment for meetings, programs, and events as needed
· Refill and maintain supplies (dispensers, air purifiers, washrooms, etc.)
· Remove garbage and recycling to designated bins
Grounds & Seasonal Maintenance:
· Assist with seasonal outdoor maintenance including lawn care, raking, plant beds, and general grounds upkeep
· Maintain roof drains by clearing debris as needed
· Support winter maintenance including snow removal, salting, and maintaining safe access points
Logistics, Transport & Moves:
· Transport materials between sites and complete dump runs as required
· Support office moves and relocation of furniture and equipment
· Assist with event logistics, including transport and setup of materials (e.g., tents, furnishings)
Organization & Operational Support:
· Support organization and maintenance of storage rooms, file areas, and shared spaces
· Assist with ongoing decluttering and system improvements across sites
· Respond to operational needs across sites and staff requests as required
· Work collaboratively across sites to support overall facility operations and adapt to shifting priorities
Health & Safety / Compliance Support:
· Support adherence to organizational health and safety standards and safe work practices across all sites
· Assist the Operations Coordinator with administrative and compliance-related tasks (e.g., documentation, tracking, filing, and record maintenance)
· Help ensure safe, accessible, and hazard-free environments for staff, clients, and visitors
· Report, document, and escalate safety concerns, incidents, and compliance issues as required
Qualifications:
· Min High school diploma
· Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and driver’s abstract required
· Age requirement for Keystone Vehicle Insurance is 25 yrs of Age
· Vulnerable Sector Check required (or willingness to obtain)
· Previous experience in facilities, maintenance or a related hands-on support role is an asset
· Basic knowledge of general repairs, maintenance, or handywork considered an asset
· Able to perform manual tasks including lifting, moving equipment, and completing outdoor work in varying conditions – lifting up to 50 pounds required.
· Ability to work effectively in a professional environment supporting diverse operational needs

· Pay Scale: OPSEU (aligned with the Admin Support 1) as of April 1st, 2026. Starting rate depending on Experience and progression based on CA:
