Position: Driller (Fly in - Fly out)
Pay rate: $46-$48 per hour plus OT aftter 8 hours a day
We are seeking an experienced Driller Operator for a contract position supporting the Mine Operations Team at an open-pit mining operation. This is a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) opportunity on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation, with both day and night shifts and 12-hour workdays. The rate is $46-48.00 per hour, plus overtime after 8 hours per day, which works out to approximately $53.66-56.00 per hour for a 12-hour day. Previous experience operating the following drill models is mandatory: D56, Pit Viper, DK75, DR650, DR580, and 5560. Travel and camp accommodations are provided. Candidates must also provide references and successfully complete a medical assessment and Criminal Record Check. The estimated start date is late September to early October 2026.
This role provides technical support and coaching to assist the department and the company to strive to achieve their goals of "ZERO HARM"
Main Accountabilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate production drills in an open-pit mining environment
- Operate and perform drilling activities using D56, Pit Viper, DK75, DR650, DR580, and 5560 drill models
- Complete production drilling according to mine plans, patterns, depths, and specifications
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine equipment checks to ensure drills are safe and ready for operation
- Monitor drill performance, ground conditions, drilling parameters, and equipment functionality
- Accurately record drilling activities, production data, equipment deficiencies, and maintenance requirements
- Identify and report mechanical or operational issues and coordinate with maintenance personnel as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is operated in accordance with site procedures
- Follow all mine-site health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, blasting, geology, and other mine operations personnel
- Participate in shift changeovers, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other site-required meetings
- Perform other duties related to mine operations as required
Main Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mine blast hole drilling with down the hole hammer production drill experience.
- Previous experience running drills such as the D56, Pit Viper, DK75, DR650, DR580, 5560
- Must have demonstrated ability to work individually and as a team
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
- Experience working in day and night shift, be physically fit to work in arctic climate and adverse conditions
- Incorporates HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrates concern for others health & safety (co-workers, clients, and sub trades).
- Leadership as well as interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude. Able to develop and foster a team environment
- Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations.
