Fleet & Equipment Technician

Full-Time | Salary: $65,000–$80,000

At The Gardener, our fleet is the backbone of everything we do. From commercial landscaping and property maintenance to snow and ice management, our equipment needs to be safe, reliable, and ready to perform every day.
We're not looking for someone who simply fixes broken equipment.
We're looking for someone who wants to improve systems, reduce downtime, build preventative maintenance programs, organize the shop, and help take our fleet to the next level.

About Us
The Gardener is a growing landscape maintenance, construction, and snow & ice management company serving Peterborough and the surrounding area.
Our fleet includes:
- Pickup trucks
- Trailers
- Skid steers
- Wheel loaders
- Excavators
- Compact tractors
- Zero-turn mowers
- Small engine equipment
- Snow plows
- Salt spreaders
- Liquid de-icing equipment
- Hydraulic systems
No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment throughout the year.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet and equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues
- Complete annual safety inspections and MTO inspections
- Perform welding and fabrication as required
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Manage shop organization and cleanliness
- Coordinate and manage parts inventory
- Purchase parts and work with suppliers
- Coordinate warranty claims and outside repair vendors when required
- Help develop preventative maintenance schedules and systems
- Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns during the winter season
- Support seasonal equipment changeovers
- Assist with equipment lifecycle planning and replacement recommendations

- A preventative maintenance program is fully implemented and consistently followed
- Fleet uptime has significantly improved
- Emergency repairs have been reduced through proactive maintenance
- The shop is clean, organized, and efficient
- Parts inventory is well organized and easy to manage
- Maintenance records are accurate and up to date
- Equipment is prepared ahead of each landscape and snow season
- Outside repair costs have been reduced through improved planning
- Leadership has confidence that the fleet is organized, maintained, and ready to perform
Most importantly, you'll have helped take our fleet and maintenance program to the next level.
What We're Looking ForPreferred Qualifications
- 310S Technician Licence preferred
- 310T considered
- 3+ years of experience (5+ years preferred)
Experience with:
- Small engines
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Electrical diagnostics
- Welding and fabrication
- Annual Safety Inspections
- MTO inspections
- CVOR compliance
Licences considered an asset:
