Skills Ontario: Trades and Tech Truck Program Facilitator

Skills Ontario is growing our current Trades and Tech Truck program by adding 3 new trailers to the program and we are looking for Program Coordinators! The Skills Ontario Trades and Tech Truck programs brings the trades and technologies careers directly to students, teachers, and guardians/parents. The Truck and new Trailers are custom builds and have on board industry training equipment and activities to allow people to experience the trades and technologies in a hands-on environment.
Under the guidance of the Trades and Tech Truck Program Manager, the successful candidates will work along side the Truck Drivers to deliver all aspects of the program to the Skills Ontario audience. They will be the main contact for people booking the truck and plan all aspects of Trucks visits including but not limited to parking location, event times and other logistics.
Trades and Tech Truck PROGRAM FACILITATOR – Job Description
The Program Facilitators will primarily be responsible for developing and facilitating Trade & Tech Truck/Trailer (TTT) activities and events for elementary and high school students, guardians/parents, and other stakeholders, on career opportunities available in skilled trades and technologies.
The Truck Facilitators will be responsible for carrying out or ensuring completion of all aspects of the project workplan to help ensure milestones and target metrics are achieved and communicated to our government partners and key stakeholders (e.g. Board of Directors).
This position will support Skills Ontario Board of Director’s mandate to heighten the awareness of Skills Ontario and increase school participation in our trades and tech truck activities and events. The successful candidate will inform and inspire young people regarding the first-choice career opportunities that exist in the skilled trades and technologies, through the following activities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Scheduling school and community visits for the trailer and delivering all aspects of the program as well as helping with set up and tear down of the trailer.
· Facilitating and coordinating development of TTT curriculum to ensure consistency and clarity.
· Working with internal and external stakeholders (eg. Schoolboard contacts) to develop and maintain a calendar of truck events by region across Ontario.
· Maintaining and tracking deliverables and metrics to ensure program success.
· Contributing content for quarterly reporting including metrics and deliverables information
· Creation and collection of documentation for reporting purposes including Skills Development Fund Employer Registration Form, surveys and other relevant documentation.
· Working with local partners and stakeholders to ensure engagement and volunteers.
· Coordinating staffing/volunteers for TTT events and activities
· Delivery of Truck Events as needed, including helping with set-up/tear down, facilitation of hands-on activities, engagement.
· Engage in TTT event follow-up activities including reports and surveys.
· Working within a budget.
- Networking and regular contact with key supporters of Skills Ontario, including Teachers, School board contacts, OYAP Coordinators, FNMI communities, Community organizations, Employers, etc. to facilitate collaboration/partnership in Skilled Trades and Technology career awareness.
- Any other duties that may be assigned
Requirements
- Secondary Education: any post-secondary education would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work from home but travel will be required to deliver program.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of computers and of basic software, including Outlook and Microsoft Suite.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Provide a clean Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Screening Check
- Must be willing to travel and spends nights away from home when required,
- Early morning travel to events is a regular occurrence.
- Be fluent in English, both oral and written. Fluency in French is an asset, but not required.
