We are seeking a Service Technician II to join our team in Peterborough, Ontario. Reporting to the District Manager, this role is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining residential and commercial propane systems under 400,000 BTUs, while upholding the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service.
What You’ll Do:
- Install, service, inspect, and troubleshoot residential and commercial propane and natural gas equipment
- Perform repairs, dispenser inspections, and propane cylinder re qualification
- Install and service propane tanks and propane/natural gas appliances
- Provide preventative and scheduled maintenance for residential and commercial customers
- Safely operate crane trucks and other service vehicles for tank installations, relocations, and pick ups
- Maintain and stock service truck inventory to ensure tools, parts, and materials are available daily
- Accurately complete service documentation and collect customer signatures, stamps, and deposits using OBTC technology
- Apply lock out procedures for unsafe or non compliant customer installations
- Conduct and document pre and post trip vehicle inspections, site inspections, and visual tank inspections
- Ensure compliance with CSA B149 code, applicable regulations, and company safety policies
- Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship, and professionalism at all times
- Collaborate closely with the Service Coordinator for routing and scheduling
- Promptly report customer, service, scheduling, or safety concerns
- Communicate regularly with the Market Manager or Field Operations Manager regarding progress, challenges, and overtime approval
- Submit hours worked accurately and on time (bi weekly)
- Deliver exceptional customer service and positively represent the company and its products
- Identify and support sales opportunities by sharing product information, brochures, pricing basics, and contact details
- Provide training, coaching, and direction to Service Technician I (Apprentice) as required
What You Bring:
Required Qualifications
- Provincial gas fitting certificates with records of training (G2 Gas License minimum)
- 2–5 years of relevant industry experience
- Advanced technical knowledge of propane appliances, equipment, and plant operations
- Strong working knowledge of CSA B149 code
- Valid driver’s license with minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract
- WHMIS and TDG certification
- Physically capable of lifting heavy objects on a regular basis
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable using computers and on board truck computer systems
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC certification and related qualifications
Salary: $28 - $30 hourly (based on skills, experience, qualifications, and geography).
