Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Restorative Registered Dental Hygienist who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. Position Overview

The Restorative Registered Dental Hygienist is a licensed oral healthcare professional responsible for providing preventive, therapeutic, and restorative dental hygiene services in accordance with the regulations established by the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO). Working collaboratively with the dentist and clinical team, this role supports comprehensive patient care by delivering restorative procedures within their authorized scope of practice while promoting oral health through education, prevention, and evidence-based treatment. The Restorative Registered Dental Hygienist is committed to providing exceptional patient care in a safe, professional, and compassionate environment.

Comprehensive knowledge of dental hygiene principles, restorative procedures, and current clinical best practices.
Thorough understanding of CDHO Standards of Practice and applicable provincial legislation.
Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
High level of attention to detail with a commitment to quality patient care.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary dental team.
Professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including reviewing medical histories, oral health assessments, periodontal evaluations, and risk assessments.
Perform scaling, root planing, periodontal maintenance, prophylaxis, fluoride applications, desensitizing treatments, and other preventive dental hygiene procedures.
Take, expose, and interpret dental radiographs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Perform restorative dental hygiene procedures within the authorized scope of practice, including the placement, carving, contouring, finishing, and polishing of direct restorative materials as prescribed by the dentist and permitted under Ontario legislation.
Remove temporary restorative materials and complete restorative procedures as authorized.
Monitor restorative outcomes and communicate findings to the supervising dentist.
Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, restorative care, nutrition, preventive strategies, and home care recommendations.
Identify signs of oral disease, restorative concerns, or changes in oral health and collaborate with the dentist regarding diagnosis and treatment planning.
Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential patient records in accordance with legislative, regulatory, and privacy requirements.
Adhere to all infection prevention and control (IPAC), sterilization, occupational health and safety, and clinic policies.
Ensure operatories, equipment, and instruments are maintained in accordance with regulatory standards.
Participate in quality assurance initiatives, continuing education, and professional development activities required to maintain licensure.
Contribute positively to a collaborative, patient-focused clinical environment and support fellow team members as required.

Qualifications

Current registration in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO).
Successful completion of an accredited Dental Hygiene diploma or degree program.
Completion of CDHO-approved restorative authorization permitting restorative dental hygiene procedures.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
Knowledge of current infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards and best practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient relationship skills.
Experience using dental practice management software and electronic health records is considered an asset.
Commitment to maintaining professional competency through continuing education.

Work Conditions

Work is performed primarily within a dental clinic environment.
Requires prolonged standing, sitting, repetitive hand movements, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity.
Exposure to infectious materials, bloodborne pathogens, dental instruments, cleaning agents, and other clinical hazards. Compliance with all safety and infection prevention protocols is mandatory.
Full-time or part-time schedules may be available and may include evenings or Saturdays based on operational requirements.
Works closely with dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, sterilization staff, and administrative team members to deliver exceptional patient care.
You must be legally authorized to live and work in Canada.
