Full job description

Position Summary:

The incumbent provides administrative support including but not limited to, reception and non-care related support to the designated unit. Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and other staff members.

Main Duties:

Maintain and check all personal items in resident’s room are properly labelled.
Assist in new admissions and discharge.
Put together charts for new admissions.
Greet and welcome new residents.
Receive incoming phone calls, answer inquiries, receive and direct visitors within the designated Home unit.
Effective communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors, staff and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner.
Provide assistance to residents during meal time.
Porter residents to activities or meals.
Assist with distribution of snacks.
Record ADL Fridge temperature.
Keep record, replenish, and order supplies (e.g. stationary, diaper, PPE, etc.) for the designated Home unit.
Understand and follow all health and safety policies and procedures. Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and residents. Promptly reports all actual or potential hazardous situations or injuries to immediate supervisor.
Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal information.
Good understanding of infection control practices.
Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed by immediate supervisor.
Identify and document building/equipment breakdowns in maintenance log.
Any other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 certificate.
At least one-year experience working in Long Term Care Facility.
Adhere to professional competencies, i.e. caring and respectful behavior, strong communication and interpersonal skills, good typing skills, conflict management skills and organizational skills.
Demonstrate core competencies i.e. customer services, continuous improvement, initiatives, and team player.
Proficiency in oral and written English.
Cultural sensitivity and ability to speak Cantonese and Mandarin in addition to English would be an asset.
Genuine interest in caring for the elderly and the disabled.
Ability to work independently and exercise initiative and judgment.
Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the well-being of long-term care residents.
Willing to shift duties and weekends on a rotation basis.
Relevant computer literacy.
