Full job description

Job Overview

Unionville College is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to play a crucial role in the upkeep and cleanliness of our school building and the maintenance of our beautiful Campus grounds.

Our preferred candidates will possess prior cleaning, maintenance and janitorial expereince, but your enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to learn new skills are just as important to us. If you are committed to ensuring a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for our students and staff, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity at Unionville College.

This position is an afternoon/evening shift of 6-8 hours of work each day from Monday to Friday. Pay is at the end of each month, working 12 months of the year. Statutory Holidays are paid. This position does not include benefits.

Expected Start date is September 2026. There might be some flexibility to start earlier than September based on business needs

Responsibilities

Facility Cleaning: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and thoroughly sanitize indoor spaces, including classrooms, washrooms, hallways, and common areas to ensure a clean and pleasant environment.
Campus Grounds Upkeep: Maintain the pristine condition of the outdoor campus grounds and pathways, ensuring they remain safe and clear.
Waste and Sanitation Management: Regularly empty, clean, and manage trash and recycling throughout the school facilities to maintain high hygiene standards.
Minor Repair and Handy work: Adress small fix-it tasks and minor repairs around the building, such as tightening fixtures, replacing light bulbs, or handling basic hardware adjustments.
Physical Tasks and Heavy Lifting: Handle occasional heavy lifting such as moving furniture, uploading school supplies, or setting up equipment for events.
Safety and Hazard Inspections: routinely monitor both indoor and outdoor facilities to identify, report, or address safety hazards and maintenance needs for students and staff.

Qualifications

Prior cleaning, maintenance or janitorial experience is preferred (but open to training eager individuals).
Valid Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record: Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract to safely operate school shuttle vans.
Strong attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness.
Ability to work independently during evening hours.
