Arrowsmith Baptist is a growing multi-generational church in Port Alberni. We have about 180 people in our community and an average of 140 people attending on Sundays. We carry out diverse discipleship and outreach ministries. Located in a residential area of Port Alberni, we have 2 buildings on our campus – a larger building we use for worship and discipleship, and another building used for youth and children’s ministries. Currently our paid staK includes a Lead Pastor, a Student Ministries Coordinator and a Church Administrator.
Port Alberni is centrally located on the west side of Vancouver Island. Our town is surrounded by beautiful mountains as well as the Alberni Inlet. Port Alberni has a population of 18000 people and a total regional population of 31000. We are just over an hour’s travel time from each of Nanaimo, Courtenay, Ucluelet and Tofino. The area hosts endless opportunities for sightseeing and recreation including biking, hiking, fishing, surfing, and swimming.
The Youth and Worship Pastor will:
Worship (20 hours)
Work with the Lead Pastor to:
Shape the music and order of service on Sunday mornings to draw people into worship, faith and repentance.
Lead Sunday worship services regularly along with the other worship teams.
Coordinate the worship ministry schedule
Recruit and train new worship team members.
Lead occasional worship nights.
Preach occasionally on Sunday Morning.
Youth (20 hours)
Lead our Youth Group in an overall plan to follow Jesus
Develop relationships with youth to help them grow in their faith
Strategize and execute a plan to reach out to youth in Port Alberni
Help with Jr. Youth
Over time, the portfolio of the Youth and Worship Pastor may change as his skills develop and as the needs of the church change.
Desired Qualities
Consistent walk with Christ
Meets the qualities for a deacon in 1 Timothy 3:8-10
Musical ability and ability to lead worship teams
Formal ministry training
High relational capacity
Missionally oriented
Supportive of the Lead Pastor, the Leadership Team and the vision of the church.
The Youth and Worship Pastor will be accountable to and mentored by the Lead Pastor.
Full Time (40 hours) Salary range: $50,000-60,000
