Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Steel Dock Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently loading and unloading materials, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring the safe handling of goods within a warehouse or construction environment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, familiarity with warehouse management systems, and the ability to perform heavy lifting. The Steel Dock Worker plays a vital role in maintaining smooth warehouse operations and supporting shipping and receiving functions.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload shipments using heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and order pickers
- Operate heavy machinery safely, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures
- Assist with order picking, shipping, and receiving processes to ensure accurate inventory management
- Utilize warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and products, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or injury
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Support construction or warehouse projects as needed, including load & unload tasks at docks
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency
Requirements
- Welding experience is a plus
- Experience in the steel work trade is a must
- Prior experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or construction is highly preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and order pickers
- Ability to operate warehouse management systems effectively
- Proven experience with heavy lifting and load/unload procedures in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and best practices for heavy equipment operation
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform repetitive lifting and standing for extended periods
- Construction experience or background in material handling is a plus
- Valid certification or training in heavy equipment operation is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
