About the Role
We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while delivering an exceptional employee experience.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and proactive payroll professional with strong analytical skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This position works closely with Finance, Human Resources and internal stakeholders to support organizational goals, maintain compliance, and drive operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Process full-cycle payroll and benefits administration, for multiple entities and work locations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Review and approve payroll entries, uploads, reconciliations, and payroll-related expenses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Serve as the primary payroll systems expert of the Company’s HCM/payroll platform.
- Act as the subject matter expert for payroll, benefits, taxation, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Participate in company-wide payroll initiatives, process improvements, system updates, and employee communications.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide payroll and benefits reporting, analysis, and insights that support business decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, employment standards, and applicable federal and provincial payroll legislation.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance team to ensure payroll data integrity, accurate reporting, and effective internal controls.
- Maintain current knowledge of payroll legislation and requirements across all provinces where employees reside.
- Manage or participate in payroll-related audits, government remittances, and inquiries, including those involving the CRA and other regulatory bodies.
- Perform additional duties as required.
What You Bring
- Minimum of five years of experience independently processing Payroll in British Columbia and Alberta. Lead or management experience is preferred.
- PCP designation is preferred.
- Experience using UKG and/or Kronos is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, including provincial employment standards, statutory remittances, and payroll compliance requirements.
- Solid understanding of payroll-related accounting processes, including reconciliations, accounts payable, and general ledger integrations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation functions.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
