Full job description

Job Overview

The Main is looking for a dedicated cook and café manager to lead our team in delivering exceptional food and beverage experiences. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure food safety and quality, assist with the development of menu items, lead daily food service, lead special event catering, and foster a welcoming environment for customers. This role requires a strong background in from-scratch food preparation, restaurant management, and team leadership within the food service or hospitality industry. The Main is proud to serve R.E.A.L Food (Regenerative, Ethical, Authentic, Local) alongside high-quality tea and coffee.

Duties

Oversee daily operations of the bakery/café, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of quality and service
Lead, train, and motivate staff
Interview, hire, and schedule staff
Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase sales and customer engagement
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally
Manage budgets
Oversee and assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain quality and consistency
Implement hospitality best practices to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests

Qualifications

Proven experience in a managerial and/or cooking role within the food industry, preferably in a bakery or café
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of food safety regulations and inventory management
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays

Salary

The salary for this position is somewhat flexible and dependent on the candidate's experience and suitability for this role.
