IT International Telecom – Legal Counsel

IT International Telecom Inc. is an ISO-certified marine network installer offering desktop study, marine route survey, engineering design, installation and maintenance services for submarine cable systems worldwide. IT was formed in 1995 and for over 20 years has been recognized as one of the worlds’ finest marine system providers.

IT is currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join its team to support the Senior Legal Counsel. The position is located in Pointe-Claire, Québec and provides an excellent working environment, opportunity for growth and learning, a complete benefits package as well as an attractive compensation package.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Evaluation and negotiation of various contracts.
Assist in identifying and tendering required subcontractors and suppliers for projects.
Draft contracts and related documents.
Interpret contracts and ensure compliance with contract terms and the requirements of the scope of work.
Identify and analyze contractual risks and formulate comprehensive recommendations.
Prepare and issue letters/memoranda regarding commercial/contractual matters.
Analyze rationale for contract changes/claims and implementing claims avoidance and mitigation practices/strategies.

Required Competencies:

Law Degree from a recognized academic institution.
Licensed and in good standing to practice law in a Canadian or American jurisdiction.
Recent work history must include a minimum 2-3 years in contract drafting and/or negotiating.
Ability to draft, read, comprehend and interpret contracts and/or contractual documents.
Excellent English (essential) & French communication skills required, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational, time-management, analytical and decision-making skills.
Office 365 experience required including Sharepoint and OneDrive.
Experience in the construction or marine industry is considered an asset.

IT est actuellement à la recherche d'un(e) conseiller(ère) juridique pour se joindre à son équipe afin de soutenir le conseiller juridique principal. Responsabilités:

Les principales responsabilités comprennent notamment :

Évaluer et négocier divers contrats.
Participer à l'identification et aux appels d'offres auprès des sous-traitants et fournisseurs requis pour les projets.
Rédiger des contrats et les documents connexes.
Interpréter les contrats et veiller au respect des modalités contractuelles ainsi que des exigences liées à l'étendue des travaux.
Identifier et analyser les risques contractuels, puis formuler des recommandations complètes.
Préparer et émettre des lettres et des notes de service concernant des questions commerciales et contractuelles.
Analyser les justifications relatives aux modifications contractuelles et aux réclamations, et mettre en œuvre des pratiques et des stratégies visant à prévenir et à atténuer les réclamations.

Compétences et qualifications requises

Diplôme en droit d'un établissement d'enseignement reconnu.
Membre en règle d'un barreau canadien ou américain et autorisé(e) à pratiquer le droit.
Expérience récente d'au moins 2 à 3 ans en rédaction et/ou en négociation de contrats.
Capacité à rédiger, lire, comprendre et interpréter des contrats et des documents contractuels.
Excellente maîtrise de l'anglais (essentielle) et du français, tant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit.
Excellentes aptitudes en organisation, gestion du temps, analyse et prise de décision.
Expérience avec Microsoft Office 365, notamment SharePoint et OneDrive.
Une expérience dans les secteurs de la construction ou de l'industrie maritime constitue un atout.
