Full job description

Real Estate Law Clerk

Overview

Elston Camp is a busy solicitor firm with an established real estate and private lending practice. We are seeking an experienced senior law clerk who enjoys taking ownership of files, exercising professional judgment, and working as part of a collaborative legal team.

The position offers meaningful responsibility and considerable autonomy within a supportive professional environment. The successful candidate will manage files from opening through completion, with ready access to the lawyer and broader team whenever consultation or assistance is required.

Responsibilities

Manage residential purchases, sales, refinances, commercial transactions, and private mortgage files from opening through completion and reporting
Conduct title searches and off-title enquiries and prepare requisitions
Prepare real estate documentation, including statements of adjustments, undertakings, trust documentation, closing documents, and reporting packages
Prepare and register instruments in Teraview, including transfers, charges, discharges, and postponements
Liaise with clients, lenders, mortgage brokers, realtors, and opposing counsel
Coordinate closing requirements, identify issues early, and assist in resolving them proactively
Maintain accurate and organized electronic files using Unity, Teraview, lender portals, and related systems
Monitor critical dates, undertakings, outstanding documentation, and requirements following closing

Qualifications

Minimum five years of Ontario real estate experience in a solicitor practice
Demonstrated ability to independently manage real estate files from opening through closing and final reporting
Strong proficiency with Teraview, Unity, lender portals, and Microsoft Office
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with private lending or commercial real estate transactions is preferred

The successful candidate will be comfortable managing files independently and exercising initiative within a collaborative practice where consultation and lawyer support are readily available.

Compensation

Compensation is structured to reflect senior-level experience, responsibility, and performance.

Full-time
In-office at our Trenton, Ontario location
Monday to Friday
