Ontario International High School (OIHS)
OIHS is seeking an independent contractor to provide online secondary-school Art teaching services during the 2026-2027 school year. The specific course engagement will depend on student enrolment, the contractor's qualifications, and school requirements.
Live sessions will be scheduled on weekdays within the 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET window. Candidates should indicate the times they are generally available to accept sessions within this period.
Scope of Services
· Deliver the applicable OIHS Art course curriculum in alignment with Ontario curriculum expectations.
· Provide engaging online instruction and course-related academic support to enrolled students.
· Prepare lessons and learning activities appropriate for an online environment.
· Guide students through artistic projects, creative processes, and portfolio development, as applicable to the contracted course.
· Develop and assess assignments, projects, quizzes, and other required student work.
· Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
· Maintain appropriate records related to attendance, assessments, and student progress.
· Use Moodle to organize course content, assessments, and course-related communication.
· Complete additional course-specific services as mutually agreed upon by OIHS and the contractor.
Qualifications
· Relevant education or formal training in Art, Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
· Relevant experience teaching secondary-school Art or Visual Arts.
· Strong knowledge of visual arts concepts, techniques, creative processes, and Ontario curriculum expectations.
· Familiarity with Ontario assessment and evaluation practices.
· Ability to teach and assess practical, artistic, and theoretical components in an online environment.
· Experience with Moodle or another learning management system is an asset.
· Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
· Reliable access to a computer, high-speed internet connection, and the equipment required to provide online teaching services.
· Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation is preferred but not required.
Nature of Engagement
This is an independent contractor engagement and not an employment position. The contractor will provide the services remotely using their own computer, internet connection, and ordinary teaching equipment. The engagement is course-based, and the availability and number of courses may vary depending on student enrolment and school requirements.
