About the Role
We are looking for the right candidate to operate the role of Chief Marketing Officer. This role will own the entire growth surface of the company and drive revenue alongside the founder, as we scale from a founder-led organization into a mature, multi-program learning business.
This is a builder's seat for an operator who lives in the work. You will own demand generation, copy and messaging, live online events, product and course launches, lifecycle and retention, and the marketing data and stack beneath all of it.
A Note on Scale
We are intentionally a small organization, roughly twenty people, predominantly engaged as contractors. We run a wide programming portfolio with a lean team, and that is by design. The right person finds this energizing: real authority over the growth engine, clear visibility into revenue impact, and the freedom to build a marketing function from a deliberate small base. You should be excited to run a high-leverage, contractor-heavy operation where your own hands stay on the work.
About the Engagement
This is a full-time engagement structured as an annual independent contractor relationship. The engagement runs on a twelve-month term, renewable by mutual agreement, with a sixty day notice period on both sides after the initial term.
Who Reports To You
- Marketing contractor bench: media buyers, designers, video editors, copywriters, and funnel builders, scoped and managed by you.
- You will shape and hire this bench as the function grows, with the budget and authority to build the structure beneath you.
What You'll Own: Growth strategy and revenue
- Own the company-wide growth engine and the revenue targets for program enrollment and continuing education sales.
- Translate company strategy into a marketing roadmap and a quarterly campaign rhythm.
- Own the marketing numbers that tie to revenue: customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, funnel conversion at each stage, email performance, launch revenue, customer lifetime value, and pipeline contribution.
- Run the weekly and quarterly marketing reviews with the founder and leadership team.
A/B testing and performance marketing
- Run a continuous A/B testing program across ads, landing pages, subject lines, offers, and full funnels. Every meaningful decision settles on evidence from a test.
- Own paid and organic acquisition across channels, and the measurement and attribution that tie every dollar of spend to revenue.
- Hold a hypothesis-and-experiment discipline across the team, and document what wins so the playbook compounds.
Copy and messaging
- Own the brand voice and the words that sell: sales pages, email sequences, ad copy, launch scripts, and live event copy.
- Write and edit high-converting copy yourself, and set the bar for every contractor who writes beneath you.
- Hold message-market fit across the trauma, somatic, and healing audience with accuracy and care.
Live online events
- Own the live online event engine: webinars, masterclasses, and virtual summits, run as primary revenue moments.
- Build each event end to end: registration and list building, live execution, conversion offers, and post-event follow-up.
- Carry the revenue target for each event, and run a post-mortem that feeds the next one.
Product and course launches
- Own the launch calendar across product launches, course drops, and cohort openings.
- Build the launch playbook end to end: pre-launch audience building, cart-open sequences, urgency mechanics, and post-launch follow-up.
- Hit the revenue target per launch and tighten the model with every cycle.
Lifecycle, retention, and monetization
- Own the email and customer-relationship lifecycle: nurture, segmentation, re-engagement, and upsell into higher-tier programs and continuing education.
- Grow customer lifetime value through repeat enrollment and ascension across the portfolio.
- Partner with the senior operations leader so marketing promises stay matched to delivery capacity.
A sales-first approach in everything
- Judge every campaign, every piece of copy, every event, and every channel on pipeline and closed enrollment.
- Own the full path from lead to enrolled learner, including enrollment and application flows, any sales conversations, and the conversion handoffs in between.
- Make revenue the lens on every decision the function makes.
Systems, data, and tech
- Own the marketing stack: analytics, email platform, landing pages, ad platforms, and attribution.
- Move the function from tribal knowledge to documented playbooks, dashboards, and rituals.
You're a Strong Fit If You Have
- 15+ years in marketing and growth leadership, including senior ownership of a revenue-generating growth function at a multi-function organization.
- A/B and market-testing rigor: you make decisions from experiments, and you can show the lift you have driven.
- Elite copywriting: you have personally written sales pages, email sequences, and launch copy that converted, and you can point to the numbers.
- Live online event mastery: you have planned and run webinars, masterclasses, or virtual summits as revenue events.
- A product and course launch track record: repeatable launches with measurable revenue behind them.
- A hands-on operator's instinct: you stay in the build, writing the copy, shaping the funnel, and reading the dashboards yourself while you lead the team.
- A sales-first mindset: pipeline and closed revenue drive your choices, and you own the number.
- Comfort in a remote, contractor-heavy organization. Canada-based and eligible to work as an independent contractor, directly or through your personal services corporation, with meaningful overlap with Eastern and Pacific time zones.
- Care for the subject matter. This work lives where trauma, the body, and healing meet, and our audience deserves marketing that respects that.
Bonus Points For
- Experience marketing online courses, certifications, or continuing education.
- Experience in the wellness, mental health, somatic, or trauma-informed markets.
- A track record of scaling an education or course business's revenue from one stage to the next.
- Experience with affiliate and partnership marketing.
- Experience leading a fully remote, globally distributed marketing function.
What You Can Expect From Us
- A senior operating seat at a mission-driven, fully remote company, with the full growth engine under your remit.
- A clean slate at the senior level: you architect the marketing function you will lead.
- Real decision authority over channels, budget, hiring, and the launch calendar, with a founder ready to share the load.
- A talented, caring team and a portfolio with room to grow.
- A monthly retainer in Canadian dollars that respects the seniority of the work, renewable annually.
- A founder who is direct, mission-driven, and ready to invest in a real partnership at this seat.
