Full job description

Title: Interim Controller
Location: Fully Remote
Term: 3-month contract
Start: ASAP
Position Overview
Our client, a growing SaaS organization, is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide immediate support. This consultant will oversee core accounting activities, support ongoing audit requirements, and help maintain continuity across a multi-entity finance function. This is a highly hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving environment and can step in quickly to provide both leadership and execution. The successful candidate will bring strong controllership experience, a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to support a business with operations spanning both Canada and the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure continuity across core finance activities.
Lead the close process and support timely, accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.
Review reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting working papers to maintain reporting accuracy and discipline.
Support accounting oversight for complex revenue streams within a subscription-based SaaS environment.
Partner with the CFO on audit-related matters and assist with ongoing external audit requirements.
Provide guidance and day-to-day support to a small accounting team, including reviewing work and helping prioritize deliverables.
Strengthen accounting processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and help bring structure to a growing finance function.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and other business areas as needed.
Assist with special projects tied to reporting, controls, process improvements, and finance operations.

Qualifications
CPA designation is strongly preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience at the Director of Finance, Controller or Assistant Controller level.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Experience working in a multi-entity environment, ideally with exposure to both Canadian and U.S. operations.
Prior experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business is highly preferred.
Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity within a smaller, evolving finance team.
ERP experience, NetSuite experience is an asset.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
