$120,000 - $130,000 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY

Join TNDC as our Manager, Human Resources and play a key leadership role in shaping the employee experience across a growing, Indigenous-owned organization. Reporting as a strategic business partner, you will lead all aspects of human resources—including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, workforce development, and HR compliance—while fostering a culture of respect, accountability, and high performance.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR leader who is passionate about people, operational excellence, and making a meaningful impact. Guided by TNDC’s values of Safety, Tahltan-Centered, Integrity, Respect, and Pursuit of Excellence, you will help drive organizational success while supporting TNDC’s mission of creating economic prosperity for the Tahltan Nation through responsible and sustainable business practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Recruits, interviews, hires, and participates in training new HR staff.

· Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

· Leads the corrective action process of employees in accordance with TNDC’s values and policies.

· Oversight and leadership to Human Resource Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Implement, review, oversee and manage all HR functions, systems, and processes across the organization or designated work sites.

· Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.

· Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

· Support recruitment and onboarding strategies to attract, hire, and retain qualified candidates.

· Administer compensation and benefits programs in alignment with company standards and budget.

· Collaborate with the Center of Excellence/ Training department regarding workplace training initiatives, including compliance, leadership development, and cultural competency.

· Ensure HR practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and collective agreements (if applicable).

· Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.

· Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.

· Promote a positive work culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and accountability.

· Participate in strategic planning related to workforce development and organizational structure.

· Provide mentorship to HR staff and foster team development.

· Reporting and maintaining the HR dashboard.

· Other duties as required for the success of TNDC.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CPHR/CHRP designation is considered an asset.

· 8–10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.

· Strong knowledge of British Columbia employment legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, and HR best practices.

· Experience in industrial, construction, mining, or remote work environments is considered an asset.

· Experience working with Indigenous communities and a demonstrated commitment to cultural awareness, inclusion, and respect for diverse perspectives.

· Proven ability to lead employee relations matters, conflict resolution processes, workplace investigations, and performance management initiatives.

· Demonstrated experience in recruitment, workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee retention strategies.

· Knowledge of compensation, benefits administration, total rewards programs, and HR reporting metrics.

· Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies, procedures, and programs.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), payroll systems, and employee data management.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and high-performing workplace culture.

· Understanding of workplace safety standards, risk management practices, and a Safety First, Safety Always mindset.

· Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with teams across multiple locations.

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing
Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, especially local Tahltan workers, by sharing technical skills, safety practices, and industry knowledge in a respectful and culturally aware manner. Uphold Tahltan values and principles by fostering a work environment built on respect, teamwork, and mutual learning. Support the growth of the Tahltan workforce by helping build capacity, promoting safe and effective work practices, and ensuring that knowledge is passed on to strengthen both the team and the broader Tahltan community for the benefit of current and future generation.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
Willingness to work occasional weekends, evenings, or extended hours to meet deliverables during busy periods.

· Willing to travel to site or local offices regularly.

Ability to manage stress and perform effectively under pressure.

· Ability to work in a remote and challenging environment.

· Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol screening.

· Valid class 5 driver’s license.

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Remote work arrangement available for candidates based in Dease Lake, BC, or hybrid work arrangement available from TNDC's Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB offices. Flexibility to work overtime during peak operational periods; ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

· Travel (up to 50%) to various TNDC sites and offices.

· Standard work hours with occasional evenings or weekends required to meet deadlines or support events and communications activities.

· The role may require extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and occasional lifting of materials or equipment (e.g., promotional materials).

· Ability to handle multiple projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of work.
