Job Title

Manager, Early Talent Initiatives

About the position

Reporting to the Director, Early Talent Initiatives, the Manager, Early Talent Initiatives leads the implementation evaluation and continuous improvement of national programs and initiatives, with a primary focus on the Mining Industry Experience Program (MiEX). This immersive two-week paid learning experience introduces students to career opportunities within Canada’s mining sector. The role ensures the successful planning, implementation, evaluation, and growth of the program while creating meaningful learning experiences that transform students’ perceptions of the mining industry and support informed academic and career decision-making.

Working closely with industry partners, educational institutions, service providers, and internal teams, the Manager, Early Talent Initiatives serves as the primary lead for all aspects of program implementation and execution, including stakeholder engagement, project management, logistics, budget administration, promotion, and quality assurance.

The Manager, Early Talent Initiatives also contributes to raising awareness of the organization, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and increasing participation in early talent initiatives and other Council programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of national programs and initiatives.
Establishes and maintains strong relationships with program partners and stakeholders.
Schedules and leads regular program meetings.
Coordinates stakeholder contributions and ensures accountability for deliverables, timelines, and commitments.
Manages relationships and contracts with consultants, contractors, vendors, and program partners to ensure high-quality program execution, including:

- Identifying, negotiating, and securing learning venues across participating locations, ensuring facilities are appropriately equipped to host learning experiences and arranging supplementary equipment and services as required.

- Coordinating catering, venue logistics, and onsite operations in collaboration with internal teams.

- Managing relationships and coordinating with program partners.

- Collaborating to enhance and maintain program central information hubs and impact measurement tools.

- Managing translation services to ensure program materials and communications are available in both official languages.

- Partnering with a talent acquisition providers to support participant selection, onboarding, and employment processes.

Incorporates lessons learned, participant feedback, and evaluation findings into future program iterations.
Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to develop recruitment campaigns, promotional materials, social media content and program merchandise.
Manages program budgets and cash flow projections to ensure programs remain within approved budgets.
Travels to and actively supports program deliveries, providing leadership and troubleshooting support to resolve issues as they arise.
Fosters an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
Implements quality assurance processes across all aspects of program delivery.
Identifies program risks and implements mitigation strategies where necessary.
Prepares reports, recommendations, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.

While the majority of work is conducted during regular business hours, occasional meetings and work outside standard working hours may be required.

Some travel is required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Project Management, Human Resources or a related field.
3-5 years of experience managing complex programs, projects, events, or educational initiatives.
Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional organizational and logistics planning abilities with strong attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and collaborative project management tools.
Experience with virtual learning platforms and event management is considered an asset.
Project Management certification is considered an asset.
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.

Job Type

Full Time, 1 Year Contract with possibility for renewal

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 + Bonus

Schedule

7.5 hour work day

Monday-Friday

Hybrid working model with a blend of time working in office and working from home
