About This Position

We're looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper who thrives in a fast-moving SaaS environment and brings solid knowledge of Canadian accounting standards. You'll be the financial backbone of our day-to-day operations — keeping our books clean, our reporting timely, and our processes sharp. This is a hands-on role with real impact, working directly with internal teams and external accounting partners.

Key Responsibilities

Daily & Transactional Accounting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable records in QuickBooks.
- Process customer invoices, vendor bills, payments, and employee expense reports.
- Manage recurring SaaS subscription billing, customer payments, and account reconciliations.
- Perform bank, credit card, and payment platform reconciliations on a regular cadence.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and support the collections process.

SaaS & Revenue Tracking:
- Track and reconcile revenue from SaaS platforms and payment processors.
- Maintain accurate records of subscription activity: renewals, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations .
- Reconcile billing platforms, payment gateways, and accounting systems .
- Support reporting on key SaaS financial metrics including:
  - Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) & Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)
  - Customer churn and deferred revenue

Reporting & Compliance:
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review.
- Support HST/GST filings, audits, and information requests in compliance with CRA requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Canadian GAAP and company financial policies.
- Maintain organized financial documentation — both digital and physical.

Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping workflows and support automation initiatives.
- Assist with billing and account inquiries from customers and internal teams.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a Canadian business context.
- Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) — this is essential.
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting standards, CRA requirements, and HST/GST compliance.
- Hands-on experience with invoicing, bank reconciliations, and accounts management.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to catch and correct discrepancies proactively.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

Nice to Have:
- Experience in a SaaS, technology, or subscription-based business
- Familiarity with subscription billing platforms (e.g., Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly)
- Experience with financial automation tools and system integrations
- Exposure to additional accounting software such as Xero or NetSuite
- Bookkeeping certification (CPB) or progress toward a CPA designation

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days):
- Books are reconciled accurately and on schedule every month.
- QuickBooks records are fully up to date and audit-ready.
- SaaS billing workflows are documented and running smoothly.
- At least one process improvement identified and proposed.
