Job Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for wiring and assembling units for Fortress products. “hands-on” for the assembly of conveyors, checkweigher systems, X-Ray machines, Gravity, Pipeline, and custom machines. The role includes interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings, pneumatic schematics, mechanical assembly of machine components, testing and commissioning support.
Responsibilities:
- Electro-Mechanical assembly and electrical wiring of industrial testing equipment
- Assemble parts, components or products to the required specifications using hand tools and small power tools such as electric drills, rachet and drivers
- Support projects including working on a project team in the design, installation, and commissioning
- Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment.
- Prepare written documentation of electromechanical test results.
- Verify part dimensions or clearances to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
- Repair, rework, or calibrate hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies or systems to meet operational specifications or tolerances.
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies
- Optimizing mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on mechanical systems
- Knowledge of current industrial electrical standards (CEC)
- Ability to read electrical drawings, process & instrumentation diagrams and schematics when required
- Assist with mechanical modifications and work with Engineering/Production staff as needed
- Machine troubleshooting and testing to support production
- Plan assigned work in an efficient method while ensuring employee safety is maintained
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintain and improve wiring diagrams related to the checkweigher area
- Support mechanical and electrical assemblers to perform their jobs.

Required Skills/Experience:
- Ability to use electrical and electronic testing equipment
- Soldering skills
- Ability to evaluate and solve electrical/electronic and mechanical problems
- 4-6 years of proven experience in assembly of customer automated machinery or mechanical assembly position
- Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Familiar with assembly and how to install pneumatic, hydraulic, and material handling systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues, report, repair and/or correct the issues with minimal supervision
- Good mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting and ability to work under pressure
