Overview and Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Director of IT & Biomedical Services, the Senior Clinical Applications Analyst serves as the primary owner and subject matter expert for the Meditech Expanse platform and related clinical applications. In this high-impact role, the incumbent will lead system optimization and maintenance initiatives, support users across the organization, and ensure reliable 24/7 operations within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. This role will also provide tier-2 backup support for corporate systems and contribute to the implementation of new capabilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap for Meditech Expanse and interfacing clinical applications, aligning priorities with clinical needs, regulatory requirements, and system upgrades; present recommendations to leadership
- Lead the design, build, maintenance, and auditing of Meditech dictionaries and tables, ensuring data integrity across the EMR
- Act as the primary liaison between Medical Staff, Nursing Leadership, Administration, and IT to translate complex workflows into efficient, scalable digital solutions
- Oversee the performance and reliability of HL7 and FHIR interfaces across Pharmacy, Laboratory, Anesthesia, and other clinical systems; support troubleshooting and incident resolution as needed
- Lead testing and validation of system updates, patches, and custom reports prior to production deployment
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, including change management records, workflow libraries, and IT knowledge base resources
- Provide expert-level support, training, and technical guidance to users, serving as the escalation point for complex application issues
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines
Skills & Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma in Health Information Management (HIM), Health Informatics, eHealth, Computer Science, or a related health technology discipline; a graduate degree is considered an asset
- Technical expertise in areas such as Meditech Dictionary build, NPR/M-AT reporting, or SQL-based data management is considered an asset
- Minimum 7–10 years of healthcare IT experience, including at least 5 years of direct experience with Meditech Expanse implementation and management; clinical experience in outpatient or surgical settings is preferred
- Proven project management experience leading clinical system upgrades and module implementations from planning through go-live
- Strong knowledge of Ontario healthcare standards (e.g., OHIP billing, Ontario Health reporting) and multidisciplinary ambulatory workflows
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions across clinical and administrative systems
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage clinical stakeholders, align cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality user support
- Flexibility to support system upgrades, extended hours, and participation in an on-call rotation as required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, and implement effective outcomes
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check/vulnerable sector check
- Provide proof of Immunization and TB records
