Full job description

A well-established Toronto plaintiff personal injury law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Jr. Tort Clerk to join our team. The role is responsible for the day-to-day handling and administration of plaintiff personal injury Tort files and supports lawyers in the progression of files and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage and maintain assigned plaintiff personal injury Tort files.

· Provide day-to-day administrative and litigation support to lawyers.

· Draft and prepare routine correspondence to clients, defence counsel, insurance companies, medical providers, and other parties.

· Send and follow up on requests for medical and third-party records.

· Assist with the preparation and organization of productions.

· Maintain and update file records, including client information, correspondence, documents, and key developments.

· Prepare and organize documents and briefs for discoveries, mediations, and other litigation events.

· Assist with booking examinations for discovery, mediations, assessments, and other appointments.

· Monitor and diarize important deadlines, undertakings, appointments, and follow-up dates.

· Follow up with clients, counsel, insurers, medical providers, and other parties as required.

· Prepare file summaries, progress notes, and other administrative documents.

· Ensure incoming and outgoing correspondence and documentation are properly saved and organized.

· Assist lawyers and clerks with general file management and administrative tasks.

· Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information professionally.

· Ensure assigned files are kept current, organized, and complete.

Qualifications and Skills:

· Law Clerk diploma or equivalent education is an asset.

· Minimum 2 years of experience in plaintiff personal injury tort litigation.

· Strong knowledge of Tort law and the Rules of Civil Procedure; Accident Benefits experience is an asset.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Ghost Practice and MedChart is considered an asset.

· Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail.

· Ability to manage a high-volume file load in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

· Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and client service skills.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.

· Experience maintaining physical and electronic files and updating legal management systems.
