Job Overview
Our established, family-owned and operated tree farm is looking to hire two crew members for the 2026 season. The crew will be planting trees primarily at residential sites in NW Calgary and area. This is a full-time, seasonal role starting in May and continuing through October, or as long as site conditions permit. Successful candidates may be expected to work additional hours during peak times.
Preference will be given to those candidates who can commit to staying on for the entire season. However, students who are going back to school in September are also encouraged to apply. This position is best suited to individuals with a positive attitude toward physical work, who enjoy being outdoors and who function well as a member of a team.
Responsibilities
● Move, load, and unload trees to customer vehicles, from delivery trucks, and on/off our company trucks (both on the lot, and at job sites).
● Perform manual tasks related to tree planting, including but not limited to:
- lifting;
- digging holes;
- shoveling/tamping soil;
- pushing/maneuvering a tree dolly;
- watering and fertilizing trees;
- removing garbage and debris, and
● Operate machinery such as bobcat/skid steer and excavator, if qualified.
Requirements
- Physical strength and endurance. Must be able to walk, stand, crouch, bend, kneel, push/pull, dig and lift to 50lbs repeatedly during the course of a shift.
- Willingness to work in a variety of conditions, including heat and humidity, rain, snow, dust, and noise. Owner/manager will contact before 7 am in the event of shift cancellations due to weather.
- Adaptable to frequently shifting tasks/priorities/timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak season.
- Must be punctual, focused and responsible. Please note that cell phone use is not permitted during working hours.
- Must be self-motivated, reliable, and demonstrate a positive, courteous attitude toward fellow crew members, staff and customers.
- Must take direction. Must perform according to company standards and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
Experience
- Landscaping, tree planting or similar 1 year (preferred)
- Machinery operation (bobcat/skid steer and/or excavator) an asset, but not required
Ability to commute:
- Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work
- Must have own transportation, as Stewart Tree Farms is not located along Calgary transit lines

Pay: $18.50-$21.00 per hour
