TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair, and maintenance service provider for both Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base. Summary

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Technical Services Specialist will provide comprehensive technical support to Depot, Field Service, Test Cell, Customers and repair vendors to ensure TCT continues to provide best in class maintenance, repair, overhaul and testing services of Siemens and/or GE aero derivative industrial gas turbines.

The role has wide reaching responsibilities requiring comprehension of a broad range of skills in addition to strong teamwork, organizational and communication skills.

This position requires significant technical knowledge of Gas Turbine (Industrial/Aero) machinery from both a theoretical and practical perspective.

A strong focus on quality is essential, with a requirement to positively embrace continual improvement via the application & development of TCT’s Management Systems.

Duties
The duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

Provide internal technical guidance and mentorship for Depot, Test Cell, Sales & Commercial Support group and Field Service branches.
Assist Gas Turbine Service Managers with developing work scope documents for scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs to gas turbine equipment.
Provide technical guidance on work scope revisions to ensure repair/overhaul scopes are managed effectively to meet customer expectations.
Work closely with all technical staff and project managers to promote best practices and compliance to defined polices, processes and work procedures.
Provide technical support to customers including troubleshooting of a broad range of site issues including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and other operational issues as they arise.
Take ownership of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) technical data to ensure effective management and implementation of engine modifications, service bulletins etc.
Provide technical support and guidance to TCT’s Test Facilities including troubleshooting and resolution of engine issues.
Provide technical guidance to Sales, Commercial and Contracts groups.
Provide general technical support to component repair vendors including managing vendor non-conformance, driving improvements and maintaining surveillance oversight (includes on-site auditing).
Ensure company technical and quality standards are developed and rigorously applied throughout the business in order to develop a best in class product/service.
Positively contribute to the internal audit program including system audits and special process audits.
Positively embrace continual improvement, process improvement and cost reduction initiatives throughout the business via the effective development and application and of lean principles.
Continuously increase knowledge of TCT’s QHSE Management System policies/procedures and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of myself and my coworkers.
Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for the HSE Management System.
Other duties as directed by the Vice President Operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Comprehensive understanding of Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) maintenance, repair and overhaul methodology & related processes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, geometric dimensioning & tolerance and industrial specifications and standards.
Strong teamwork, planning, organizational, and analytical and decision making skills are essential.
Working knowledge of continual improvement, technical innovation, process excellence and lean principles.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

The minimum training and/or educational requirement for this role is University degree and 5+ years related experience or a combination of education and experience that allows the individual to adequately perform the role, as determined by the Director of Technical Services.
