With steady growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are expanding our team and looking for dedicated professionals to join us.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Trainee Asphalt Roller Operator to join our team. No prior roller experience is required—we are fully prepared to train the right individual who has a strong work ethic and a desire to learn a valuable skilled trade. This position involves learning to operate asphalt compaction equipment while supporting the paving crew with regular ground labour tasks. We're seeking someone who’s a team player and willing to pitch in wherever needed on the job site.

Duties

Learn to operate asphalt rollers safely to achieve required compaction specifications
Operate a plate compactor and hand tamper for tight spaces, joints, and edges
Perform daily equipment inspections, greasing, and basic maintenance
Assist the paving crew with ground labour, raking, shovelling, and site cleanup
Monitor mat temperature and follow the rolling pattern directed by the foreman
Adhere to all company safety protocols and site-specific safety regulations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Represent the company professionally on-site and with the public

Skills

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation to get to yard
Strong willingness to learn heavy equipment operation and take direction
Physically fit and eager to perform consistent labour tasks alongside operating duties
Ability to safely handle and operate vibratory plate compactors and hand tamps
Ability to work outdoors in hot, dusty, and varying weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and a team-oriented mindset
Previous experience in construction, paving, or landscaping is considered an asset
