Full job description

Orion M.C. Inc. is a Saint John, New Brunswick based Retail, Commercial, and Residential Real Estate Developer. As a self-sufficient operation, Orion M.C. Inc. is comprised of five divisions: Property Management Services, Property Development Services, Construction Services, Maintenance Services, and Landscape Services.

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Accounting Clerk within our Property Management Services division.

As the successful candidate, you will provide accounting and administrative support to the Finance and Controller team across a group of related entities. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role focused on maintaining accurate financial records, completing account reconciliations, preparing working papers, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Finance department.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. This position is well suited for someone looking to build their accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities for continued learning and growth.

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Prepare and maintain intercompany reconciliations across related entities
Prepare and maintain accounting working papers and supporting documentation
Assist with the preparation and posting of routine journal entries and accruals
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other day-to-day accounting functions as required
Review accounting records for accuracy and completeness and follow up on discrepancies
Assist with monthly accounting processes and account reconciliations
Maintain organized and accurate electronic and accounting records
Compile supporting documentation for monthly reporting, audits, and year-end processes
Assist the Finance and Controller team with various accounting and administrative tasks as required
Assist in job cost billing and reconciliation
Assist in the preparation of annual CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and recoveries

Qualifications and Requirements

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, reconciliations, and working paper preparation
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate or higher)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience with Yardi or other ERP/accounting systems is considered an asset
Previous experience working with multiple related entities or intercompany transactions is considered an asset
Familiarity with ASPE is considered an asset
