FIELD SURVEYOR

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Survey Lead, the Field Surveyor will be responsible for daily staking and as-built point pickups in accordance with project designs and specifications. The Field Surveyor will collaborate closely with Survey Leads, Project Managers, and Field Superintendents to ensure that tasks are completed on schedule and meet project guidelines and quality standards. Duties may also involve utilizing advanced surveying equipment and technologies, such as laser scanners and drones, based on the specific needs of the project. This is a field-based position that will work on a rotational schedule where camp accommodations are provided. This role will be based out of Northern Ontario and/or Northern Manitoba.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Conduct daily staking operations in alignment with project designs and specifications
- Perform field topographic survey pickups using RTK Rover and Base and drone technology
- Compile, analyze, and document as-built survey data for both internal and external use
- Create and maintain redline mark-up drawings and built record drawings
- Generate design plans from paper sketches and field data, as needed
- Resolve survey layout issues and troubleshoot machine control on-site with TOPCON and Trimble systems
- Collaborate effectively with Survey Managers, Project Managers, and Field Superintendents
- Accurately record and document field data in accordance with project requirements and corporate standards
- Candidates must be able to successfully pass a drug and alcohol screening as well as a criminal background check
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 2+ years experience in GPS construction is required
- A Degree in Engineering, College Diploma or equivalent will be considered an asset
- Experience with survey grade drones and photogrammetry will be considered an asset
- Transport Canada Drone Pilot Certification will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of DTM surfaces and DXF files in data collector is required
- Working experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Centre is required
- Strong knowledge of proper construction staking of roads, dams, pads, and ponds
- Ability to work remotely and on a rotational basis is required
- Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills are required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written as well as electronically
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Must hold a valid driver’s license
