Position Overview

The Property Accountant (Commercial) is responsible for supporting the financial management of Leyad's commercial property portfolio. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role oversees day-to-day accounting activities, assists with financial reporting, and works closely with Property Managers to ensure accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within a collaborative accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

Perform full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end working papers.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Review tenant accounts, rent rolls, and operating cost recoveries for accuracy.
Process CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and realty tax reconciliations.
Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Review commercial lease agreements to ensure accurate tenant billing and rent adjustments.
Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and year-end working papers.
Work closely with Property Managers to resolve accounting discrepancies and answer financial inquiries.
Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Contribute to continuous improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2-4 years of property accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate.
Experience with Yardi or another property management/accounting software is considered an asset.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Understanding of commercial leases and operating cost recoveries is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Both French and English are required as we operate across Canada.

Relevant du gestionnaire de la comptabilité, cette personne effectue les activités comptables quotidiennes, prépare les rapports financiers et collabore étroitement avec les gestionnaires immobiliers afin d'assurer l'exactitude des informations financières.

Responsabilités principales

Effectuer la comptabilité complète d'un portefeuille de propriétés commerciales.
Préparer les écritures comptables, les conciliations de comptes et les dossiers de fin de mois.
Participer à la préparation des états financiers mensuels, trimestriels et annuels.
Vérifier les comptes des locataires, les registres de loyers et les récupérations de frais d'exploitation.
Effectuer les conciliations des frais d'entretien des aires communes (CAM) et des taxes foncières.
Assurer le suivi des comptes fournisseurs et des comptes clients.
Examiner les baux commerciaux afin de confirmer la facturation, les ajustements de loyer et les dépenses récupérables.
Participer à la préparation des budgets annuels, des prévisions financières et des dossiers de fin d'exercice.
Collaborer avec les gestionnaires immobiliers afin de résoudre les écarts comptables et répondre aux demandes d'information financière.
Préparer les documents nécessaires aux audits de fin d'année.
Veiller au respect des politiques comptables et des contrôles internes.
Participer à l'amélioration continue des processus comptables.

Qualifications

Diplôme universitaire ou collégial en comptabilité, en finance ou dans un domaine connexe.
De 2 à 4 ans d'expérience en comptabilité immobilière, idéalement dans le secteur commercial.
Expérience avec Yardi ou un logiciel de gestion immobilière constitue un atout.
Bonne maîtrise de Microsoft Excel.
Connaissance des baux commerciaux et des récupérations de frais d'exploitation est un atout.
Excellentes aptitudes en organisation et souci du détail.
Les langues française et anglaise sont toutes deux requises, puisque nous exerçons nos activités partout au Canada.
