Join Lakeside Manor as an Assistant Manager!

Lakeside Manor offers 110 beautifully appointed suites, a service package that considers resident’s every need, plus a host of unique lifestyle choices. Whether residents are catching a movie in our tiered movie theatre, enjoying a gourmet meal at the Silver Swan dining room, or a drink at Corks wine bar, the ambiance cannot be matched anywhere in the area.

About the Role: In this role, you'll help ensure a full building of happy residents by delivering exceptional hospitality, a superior dining experience, and an environment that fosters dignity and independence. You’ll support restaurant services, assist with administrative tasks, coordinate staffing, and help manage day-to-day operations. You’ll also support the GM with resident suite sales—conducting tours, completing move-in paperwork, and working toward monthly sales goals. Additionally, you’ll oversee front-of-house dining staff, support communication between the kitchen and dining room, and uphold service standards.

Compensation: $60K-$65K

Role Responsibilities:
Community Leadership & Resident Support

Supports overall growth and day-to-day operations of the Retirement Community, including dining services, staffing, resident satisfaction, and budget management.
Establishes and maintains a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment for residents.
Responds promptly to emergency calls from residents and takes appropriate action.
Ensures continuous operation of the community, stepping in to perform staff duties when necessary.

Dining Services Management

Leads the dining services team under the direction of the General Manager.
Coordinates daily operations of dining spaces, including the wine bar and sports lounge.
Works with the General Manager and Executive Chef to deliver excellent service for special events and regular meal service.
Gathers resident and guest feedback to continuously improve dining experiences. · Trains, mentors, and manages performance of front-of-house dining staff.
Drives consistency in service standards while fostering innovation and openness to change.

Scheduling & Staffing Support

Provides scheduling support, managing both planned and unplanned absences in accordance with the collective agreement.
Verifies staffing needs against current schedules and communicates unfilled vacancies to management. Maintains master rotations, weekly schedules, and approved leave requests.
Builds strong relationships with casual staff and maintains up-to-date seniority lists for call-ins and shift assignments. Operations & Administration
Monitors and reports on reasons for staff absences and supports attendance management initiatives.
Accurately records scheduling and attendance data to support timely and accurate payroll submission.
Participates in service planning and prioritization of both short-term and long-term goals.
Implements and supports new initiatives, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the leadership team. Supports OSH committee as needed.
All other duties as assigned

Necessary Education and Experience:

Certification or equivalent combination of experience, education, and knowledge (ideally two years) preferably in a senior living environment
Experience in staff training, education, staff development, performance management, and mentorship of a serving team.
Two years experience supervising a fine dining or full-service retirement environment preferred.
Prior restaurant experience is an asset
Serving it Right and FOODSAFE Level I certifications preferred.
Strong Sales background is an asset and highly preferred.
Staffing and scheduling experience in a 24-hour environment is an asset.

Skills for Success:

Experience working with MS Office i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook is preferred.
Strong English language skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Able to multi-task, handle changing priorities, and work under pressure.
Friendly disposition, personable, and easily able to build harmonious working relationships with residents, families, colleagues, business partners, and members of the general public.
Strong Leadership skills: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others is required.
Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
