The Department of Creative Technologies and Design in the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance (MAP) at the University of Regina invites highly qualified applicants for a one-year term Lab Instructor in Visual Communication Design and/or Media Design. This is a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal, to commence January 1, 2027, or July 1, 2027.
Joining an interdisciplinary team in Creative Technologies and Design, Fine Arts, Media, Computer Science, and Engineering, the successful candidate will bring technical expertise and critical thinking in the areas of Visual Communication Design and/or Media Design to build upon the well-established strengths of the Department of Creative Technologies and Design as we continue to expand our programs.
Teaching will include studio, lab-based, and lecture formats, as well as online and mixed modalities at the undergraduate level in Creative Technologies and Design. Previous studio/lab-based teaching experience at the University level in one or more of the areas of Visual Communication Design and Media Design, including Graphic Design, Web Design, Data Visualization, Advertising and Marketing Design, UI and UX Design, or Digital Interaction Design is required.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach 7 undergraduate courses and contribute to service in the Department of Creative Technologies and Design and MAP.

MAP works with other units, such as First Nations University of Canada, Women and Gender Studies, Social Work, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Arts, Education, Kinesiology, and the Humanities Research Institute. MAP is home to the Centre for Socially Engaged Theatre (CSET), IMP Lab (Interactive Media and Performance), the VOICE Lab (Vocally Oriented Investigations in Creative Expression), RISC (Regina Improvisation Studies Centre). We have strong collaborative relationships with arts institutions, such as the MacKenzie Art Gallery, Regina Symphony Orchestra, Sâkêwêwak Artist Collective, Dunlop Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Regina, Regina Public Library, Neutral Ground, New Dance Horizons, Saskatchewan Film Pool, and Common Weal, among others. MAP has numerous international partnership universities, with many innovative mobility initiatives for both faculty and students in Mexico City and the UK, among other locations. MAP is now home to a new Canada Research Chair in Socially Engaged Theatre (Tier II) and the SaskPower Chair in Cultural Heritage.

Position Requirements
The successful candidate will hold an MA, MFA, MDES, or PhD degree focusing on Visual Communication Design and/or Media Design, including Graphic Design, Web Design, Data Visualization, Advertising and Marketing Design, UI and UX Design, and Digital Interaction Design.
The successful candidate should demonstrate creative output at the professional level with the ability to connect theory to practice. Experience working in the creative industries is considered an asset.
Previous studio/lab-based teaching experience at the University level in one or more of the areas of Visual Communication Design and Media Design, including Graphic Design, Web Design, Data Visualization, Advertising and Marketing Design, UI and UX Design, or Digital Interaction Design is required.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Lab Instructor Salary Range $77,186 - $92,486 Status Term Work Hours
As required by the responsibilities of the position and defined in the expectations set out by the Dean.
