Nature and Scope
The Career Services Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of career services programs that meet the needs of First Nations. The position involves engagement with community stakeholders, internal stakeholders, and employers to deliver successful programs and services. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.
General Accountability
The Career Services Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for career development services and programs, supporting learners, clients, and communities through career planning, skills development, and employment opportunities. The Coordinator builds partnerships with First Nations communities, Tribal and Grand Councils, employers, ISET Program holders, and other stakeholders, and leads the development, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of programs, identifying new or enhanced services that respond to community, learner, and labour market needs. The Coordinator also provides strategic guidance on short- and long-term program planning, and oversees program resources, budgets, and staff, including the recruitment, management, and development of instructors and students, with approval authority over program contracts, purchase orders, and expenditures. This position is responsible for coordinating programs from start to finish, including administration and financial budgeting. Extensive travel to communities and program locations is required. Specific Accountabilities
The Coordinator, Career Services will develop and deploy strategies related to career services through community, employers, and related businesses. This position is responsible for the coordination of programs from start to finish. This position is required to seek out new program opportunities, as well as, in collaboration with the Director, identify the need to modify current programs and services in order to meet the needs of the clients and communities. Identify, initiate, and support the coordination of programs

Ensure the program material is current and relevant

Support the Career Development Officers in the monitoring of training programs

Ensure the training program meets the needs of the First Nation Tribal/Grand Councils and stakeholders

Ensure the program is on schedule and curriculum components are delivered

Work closely with relevant personnel and departments to ensure smooth operations, including calendar planning, internal and external evaluations, and joint workshop initiatives for facilitators

Moderate travel to various First Nation communities and events

Keep up-to-date on trends in the labour market and the economic climate and requirements and qualifications for different occupations

Monitor budgets for all programs, ensuring sufficient resources are available to deliver the training

Coach, train and develop employees to ensure growth and development of those individuals

Required Qualifications and Experience: A degree or diploma in social sciences discipline, business or related field is preferred. A minimum of 4 years work experience in a related field of training and employment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including online applications) of programs is required. Supervisory experience is required. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations are considered assets. Incumbent must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle as moderate travel is required.
As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT's Alcohol and Substances policy.
