Why we have this role:
As a Beef Nutrition & Business Consultant, you will partner directly with beef producers across Saskatchewan and Alberta to help them achieve their operational and financial goals.
This is a highly consultative, relationship-driven role where you will provide nutritional expertise, develop customized feeding programs, and support producers with practical, on-farm solutions. You will also play a key role in growing the business, strengthening market presence, and advancing your own expertise in ruminant nutrition.
Working with us:
This is a permanent, full-time position. Your home base will be where you live, which means you will work remotely with access to our office facilities in Saskatchewan and Alberta. You will travel within the Saskatchewan and Central Alberta region up to 5 days a week. This role can be based in Saskatchewan or Central Alberta. As a Beef Nutrition and Business Consultant, you will have a fixed base salary plus an unlimited earning potential through commissions. GVF offers a competitive starting wage and vacation.
What you’ll do:
Market Development & Strategy
- Build a strong understanding of the regional beef industry, including market trends and competitive landscape
- Identify growth opportunities and support expansion within the Saskatchewan and Alberta markets
- Strengthen GVF’s presence through relationship-building and market insight
Sales & Business Growth
- Grow and manage a portfolio of beef producers through a consultative sales approach
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining existing relationships
- Collaborate with internal experts to deliver value-added solutions
- Support and mentor team members as your experience grows
Customer Support & Nutrition Services
- Formulate rations and develop feeding programs using NDS software
- Provide on-farm consultations, including barn tours and performance analysis
- Deliver practical advice across nutrition, herd health, and farm management
- Ensure feeding systems are optimized for performance
Product Development & Innovation
- Contribute to new product development through customer insights and industry knowledge
- Support regulatory compliance and promote adoption of new technologies and products
Marketing & Industry Engagement
- Participate in local events, meetings, and industry initiatives
- Support marketing efforts, including social media and industry publications
Your background includes:
- Passion for agriculture and the beef industry
- 2+ years of sales experience in agriculture or a related field
- Strong understanding of beef production systems (cow/calf, backgrounding, finishing)
- Diploma or degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or Business (asset)
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to travel extensively within the region
